Earn confidence through hard work, Taseer tells PPP workers

London: Governor Salmaan Taseer on Monday urged party workers to help the people of their constituencies and win confidence through hard work

The governor was addressing workers and office bearers of the zonal organisations of PPP Lahore, party ticket holders and women's wing office bearers in an open house meeting at the Governor House. He said PPP workers should strengthen their position among people through strong public interaction in order to win the next elections and restore goodwill in constituencies where its candidates were unsuccessful in the February 18 elections.

He said if the PPP had been unable to succeed in some constituencies, it did not mean that the party would loose the next elections. He said zonal office bearers had been given the task to enroll members, register votes and provide computerised national identity cards to the voters. He said winning or losing elections was part of politics, adding that winning elections would have been possible through transfers and postings of government officials, then the PML-Q would have been in power.

He said credit to speed up the process to form the government after elections goes to the PPP.

He said the founding chairman of the party, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, took the responsibility of taking difficult decisions during the 1971 partition. Today, he said when the country was facing various challenges including security, economic crisis and inflation amd the PPP leadership had taken the responsibility of taking tough decisions.

He said the party had promoted Benazir Bhutto's thinking by reconciling with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and forming a coalition government in Sindh with the MQM. Similarly, he said the PML-N had no majority in Punjab, but the PPP had made it a senior partner and provided it a chance to lead the coalition government. He said that taking all political forces along was the biggest success of the PPP and it was the democratic vision of the party to promote real democratic values in the country.

Elections are not merely contested on the basis of development projects; it is a complete science and needs hard work, comprehensive planning, dedication and a strong public interaction.

Salman Taseer i think trying his level best to prove that he is hard core PPP worker which he is not. i think he want to prove this to PML(N) and want to provoke them and want PML(N) to treat him as a threat to their power in Punjab, this is some kind of game plan against already weakened coalition
