In my last post on the nemesis of Kashmir, I pointed out the nefarious role played in the orchestrated molestation of this valley by the Sheikh Abdullah & his thrusted progeny .I am given to understand that you liked it, I gratefully acknowledge it. However in this melodramatic act of destroying the very essence of Kashmir, there are far too many actors. The background & the theme remains the same, yet the modus operandi of plundering this wonderland is unique in each case. Each protagonist sets a different example in washing his hands with the cheaply available blood of the poor, the hapless Kashmiri. Out of this league of extraordinary criminals in our polity, today I dwell upon a Father-daughter duo, which has & continue playing a role in the planned execution of Kashmir. They are front stage characters in the orchestration of well executed policies to befool the gullible Kashmir's .Yes indeed I bring to light the notorious, the nefarious & the farcical Mufti's.
First then to the elder Mufti Mohamed Sayeed-the protagonist of many a woes we are going through to this day.
Take a walk down memory lane with me & I will show you a picture which appears as shady, as bleak & as obscure as the man himself .An unbiased student of history will safely conclude that the dubious role played by him in the nemesis of Kashmir is a "verifiable historical fact".
At best Mufti sr. is a political character of dubious integrity, driven only by self ambition & a desire to attain greater political heights. If that should be over the corpses of helpless Kashmir's, so be it. Ever since his political career took off, he has switched sides, changed parties & ideologies like clothes and on top it indulged in hoodwinking in an attempt to pretend being the only savior of Kashmir & its people. Started of with the congress, rose to become a deputy minister in Sadiq`s govt, went on to become a cabinet minister in the stooge govt of Mir Qasim, got catapulted to the centre stage after much hard work (read, political servant hood), then managed to become the tourism minister in Rajiv Gandhi's govt , suddenly switched sides to the Jan Morcha , eased into the Janta Dal to become the home minister of India , went out of favor , returned to the congress , left it again and finally formed the PDP to further his ambition of becoming the CM of J&K .An eventful life , full of political opportunism? It fails my mind as to how a man of such vacillating character with no stability of thought can lay claim on being representative of Kashmir, leave alone its leader. But in a sense that has been our tragedy, we have let such questionable characters force themselves atop our heads .Time to throw them off on to the dust, they deserve that & belong there.
Coming to the progeny, Ms Mufti Jr -The prodigal son in a daughter, the femme fatale (only for the mentally challenged), and the scarf brandishing epitome of hypocrisy who hides her true self behind the cloak in the public eye. Akin to the junior Abdullah, she was thrusted upon us as the "only female voice" our valley had & to strengthen the notion of women empowerment in Kashmiri politics. One of the reasons of her being catapulted into the political arena was to emphasize that the women of Kashmir had shed all inhibitions & were looking for a role model. Leave alone role model she is despised by an overwhelming majority of Kashmiri women on being what she is & she doesn't seem to take any lessons from it.
What is their role in contemporary Kashmir? Well arguably nothing! They are as much a liability on us as the Abdullah's. They are as much of a disease on Kashmir as much as the Abdullah's .The need for them is to introspect honestly about themselves & to think seriously about repenting for what they have done to their own land. But reliable sources confirm that since they are inebriated most of the time, it's not possible to introspect. OUCHH ! That must have hurt ïŠ .
People I suggest you need to move on & think about alternate vocation. The people can take you no more, might even throw you out. On that note Iam reminded of the recent talks in Jammu with the Samiti, Isn't it true that Ms Mufti along with Dr. Abdullah was booted out of the room by those from Jammu!!! So finally what did the Muftis achieve, neither Kashmiri nor the Jammuite. Pretty much like . . .
