A half-baked Cake ' CIA & RAW's another failure! By Nadia Khan
While the dossier, available at Daily Hindu newspaper website http://www.hindu.com/nic/dossier.htm, claims that all fingers are pointing at Lashker-e-Tayyaba (LeT) and Pakistan media especially news channels are claiming the contents of dossier incomplete, unauthentic, and full of flaws however Pakistani authorities are claiming that investigations are still on their way, for next 10 days, until concrete reasons would be established. Hence a final reply would be given to Indian authorities, paving the way for any further legal actions against LeT seniors, Lakhvi, Zarar Shah, if appeared to be involved.
By looking at LeTs main motto, “liberation of Indian occupied Kashmir or a pan Islamic Govt. in South Asia appears to be an illusion in today's world until governments of Pakistan and Bangladesh should involved at state level and they should seek support of Indian Muslims, politically, without indulging in any war fare or would come across a crisis situation, like in Afghanistan in 1979, and USA should be willing to ignore such pan-Islamism within South Asia. The attacks on Mumbai couldn't lead to the achievement of this vision as Lashker's continuous guerrilla-war against Indian border security apparatus in Indian held Kashmir since 1988 could have resulted only a stir in a cup of tea for Kashmir cause in today's world where differentiation between the terrorism and war of independence is quite inter mixed. This looks a renewed thought process for LeT elite to work out a model of Jihad, leading towards maximum achievement of their target â€" liberation of Kashmir or pan-Islamic govt in South Asia, forcefully and politically.
Probably, the attacks on Mumbai pretend a different approach either meant to create scare or Internationalize focus towards various outright organizations engaged in terrorism. If so, we could find any news shot or phone calls to local or global media from the attackers revealing their demands about Kashmir or other injustices within India. So the reason of attack remains mysterious, if it is carried out by Lashker. Similarly, as accused before in 2001 over Indian parliament attack, Lashker-e-Tayyaba, if they were involved as they denied their involvement, couldn't relate that incident towards Kashmir issue positively. Partly, it was because Indian Govt. had denied any sort of negotiations with attackers and to deal the issue with iron hands only. Likely with this approach the target of terrorists couldn't made public with a view that a well-planed terrorist act couldn't get positive attention. Alternately loss of innocent lives couldn't serve any cause no matter how noble it is!
By considering, what Indian intelligence agencies have revealed so far, as these terrorist came to Mumbai by sea and wanted to go back by taking innocent hostages along with them, because coast guard has found a GPS equipment, a satellite phone, & a map of routing back to Karachi, wouldn't reach to a level of acceptance as taking few hundred hostages could not be a practical approach.
The timings of Mumbai attacks has some significance, when US-Pakistan relations are all time low, whereas Islamabad & Delhi were fostering all their efforts to take bilateral talks to new heights, as President Zardari “urged opening the Kashmir issue to public debate in India and Pakistan and letting the people decide the future of IHK. When Pakistani foreign minister was on Indian soil, dealing with bilateral talks issue, in this context, Mumbai attacks were only a tip of an iceberg from US foreign policy towards Pakistan.
Regrettably these attacks served everyone positively; Washington, Delhi present-govt., Islamic radicals except Pakistan & people of Pakistan. Towards Washington the main intent is to:
1. implicate Pakistan based Islamist group responsible for this action, hence strengthening justification for extending the US led "war on terrorism" into the Indian sub-continent and Pakistan
2. justify military action in Pakistan, probably get renewed support from people and govt. of Pakistan over drone attacks in tribal areas
3. portray social, ethnic, sectarian division, and plural differences among Indian sub-continent nations
For radicals, they get them selves internationalised, even not involved in the incident fully or acted partially obeying some other masters!
Likewise, in India, Mumbai attacks had sparked political gains debate among local parties undergoing provincial elections. These attacks have also served to foster anti-Pakistani sentiment within India as well as allowed Hindu-fundamentalist parties to portray sectarian divisions between Hindus and Muslims. All this is to get most out of ongoing & coming general elections!
