A Questionnaire for Lal Masjid Brigade

from the streets of Pakistan

by Umer Amir Khan

I am a Pakistani like most of us are. I live a life that millions around me live. I suffer long hours of load shedding, eat Bun Kababs from thaylay walas near garbage dumps, have been exploited by government officials, suffer everyday to make ends meet, have been harassed by both, police and criminals and travel like animals in public transport. Still, I love my Pakistan. As I walk in Karachi, trespassing a Franchise Restaurant, I FEEL for the barred feet, shabbily dressed hungry boy, staring helplessly through the window towards giggling kids and smiling rich parents. I FEEL for that wrinkled palm of an aged begger, flat in front of me, with grievous look in his fading eyes. He is helpless, penniless and all alone in a country in which one night of Basant can drain millions of rupees. Yet, I still love Pakistan from the depth of my heart and will never tolerate anyone who will try to take it away from me.

I live my life crossing each date on calendar. Military Generals, Politicians, Landlords and Bureaucrats have made, my own country a living hell for me. With no freedom, respect, wealth and security; the only thing that I have is my Pakistan. Now the so-called RELIGIOUS SCHOLARS who have declared a Theka on Islam wants to take that away from me? With danda in hand, threats on their tongues they are proclaiming that they will take away my Pakistan from me and turn it into a second Afghanistan.

With news flashing Lal Masjid activities and newspaper highlighting their threats, my mind is filled with thousands of questions. Following are few questions among thousands of those piercing nails. These are aimed at Lal Masjid Brigade in particular and all the Religious Seminaries (Madariss) in general. I know that every Literate Pakistani knows the answers of these questions. It is time for the brigade to know that Pakistanis know, and they cannot be exploited on the name of the most beloved and only things they have i.e. Islam and Pakistan.

What have you given to Islam?

Islam, in the present era is facing one of the most precarious times of its history. Muslims are divided. Islam itself is divided into hundreds of sects. There are Shias, Sunnis, Diobandis, Barelwees, Naksh Bandis, Ahley Hadees and many more. Apart from internal divisions, Islam is also facing problems as due to the lack of its implementation in rapidly changing Global Scenarios. With millions of students all across Pakistan, becoming experts in Asul Deen and Fikkah in Religious Seminaries (Madariss), we want to know what have they done for the religion, that is their profession as well as belief.

Dear dissenters of Lal Masjid Brigade, thousands of Students have become Aalim-e-Deen from your Madrassah. (Masters of Religion) I would like to ask:

"“ Have you carried out any research, proposed a solution or exerted efforts to verify the causes and cater the problem of Sectarian Divisions in Pakistan? What have you done to unite the divided masses? (I am talking about common Pakistanis, among whom there are groups who even refuses to greet each other with respect due to sectarian bias)

"“ Have you ever introduced and implemented any probable scheme that would include erudite Pakistanis to cater the perilous threats that Islam and Muslims are facing in present times because of Missionary and Zionist attacks on our Islam? Apart from cursing them after every prayer and especially in Friday sermons, have you practically done anything that has benefited Islam? (Except for preparing suicide bombers and jihadis to fight a false battle)

"“ Have you ever carried out any research and proposed solutions about how can we implement Islam effectively in our Corporate and Civil Sector? How can a Banker, an Engineer and a Sales person excel in his work due to Islamic practices?

What have you done for Scholars of Islam?

- What is the future of students studying in your Madrassah?

- Are you competent enough to face the challenges of rapidly changing global scenarios? Can you become the leaders of tomorrow in the field of Arts, Science, technology or authority in Religion?

- Can you represent Islam on Global Forums? Are you cognizant of Global Politics, Christian and Zionist Psychologies and the kind of threat they are imposing on Islam?

-To this day, you have been surviving on charity and sadkas, what have you done to make your Madrassah self-sufficient?

- You are so powerless and weak that the only solution you have to bring a change in the society is the short cut of blowing yourself up? Was this the way our ancestors adopted when they stood against the ignorant fiends of the time?

What have you done for Pakistan?

- What have you given to Pakistan? How many Thinkers, Scientists, Sociologists, Doctors and Leaders have you produced?

- Have you ever carried out any research, proposed any solutions or exerted any commendable efforts that can move Pakistan towards prosperity?

- You have declared the fatwa that Army men dying in Waziristan are not shahid (they cannot even have a Muslim's funeral), but are you competent enough to replace these accomplished individuals who have fought bravely and died for the prosperity of this land?

- You claim to be authority on Islam, where is Islam in Pakistan? Where were you and your elders for last 60 years? Now by taking over a Children's Library and threatening suicide attacks (that will claim more lives of innocent Pakistanis), you think you can implement Shariah overnight in Pakistan?

- What have you done to improve the image of Pakistan in International community?

- What is your contribution for the Education Sector, Agriculture Sector, Industrial Sector, Defense Sector and Economy of Pakistan?

What have you done for a Common Pakistani?

- What have you done for me, for a common Pakistani? How dare you raise your hand on me, abduct me and call me kafir, when you have always considered me Nijs (impure)?

- A Pakistani is still suffering in every way he can. You claim to have the only true knowledge, why can't you solve their problems? (The nation is totally disappointed by giving a heavy mandate to your leadership, in the form of Muthaida Majlis Amal, who have literally done nothing for people in last five years) Where is your study, research and strategy about how to make the life of Pakistanis easy by eradicating the problems of poverty and exploitation? (After all, you are an Educational Institution, where young minds are shaped to lead the nation in the future)

- Why have you made Pakistanis, terrorists and suicide bombers in the eyes of International community? Now, even true Scholars from Pakistan are deprived of getting Education and Experience in the developed world.

-  What have you done for the moral grooming of Pakistanis? What have you done to eradicate false practices of late marriages in our society? Where were you when Obscenity and fascism was creeping in our populace? (Probably you were breaking televisions in streets or sleeping in caves)

- How many role models, heroes and mentors are amongst you, who can be idolized by the youngsters?

- How can you explain your ultimate love for Taliban, Foreigners and Afghans? Don't you realize how much they have damaged the life of a common Pakistani by introducing Drugs, Weapons and Violence in our society?

How will you Implement Shariah?

- Every Pakistani wants to know how will you implement Shariah? Do you have any detailed research carried out? Do you have any plan; strategy and a work break down structure to make it possible?

- Are you planning to convert Pakistan into Afghanistan of Taliban and adopt methods of Mullah Umer and his mentors, who are now nowhere close to Afghans who are being slaughtered in their own homes (Unfortunately, you don't have anything different from Taliban, both in vision and knowledge).

- How will you implement Shariah in a country of 160 million people? How will you do it in thousands of Courts, Police Stations, Military Bases, Educational institutions, Public places etc? If you have any plan than then where it is?

The answers of these questions are evident in social, political, moral and economical situation of Pakistan. Unfortunately, we have been exploited and deceived by those who we have revered the most. It is a sad reality that those who have to guide us from darkness to light are themselves lost. If any young suicide bomber or a woman in veil with a big danda in her hand is reading this, kindly think about what I have highlighted. Please leave those who are exploiting your young blood. The end would be same, as it has happened previously. Thousands of deceived will die, suffer or turned into busted pieces of flesh and bone, and your leadership will continue raving on microphones and traveling in air-conditioned vehicles.

time has been changed a lot since then
Asslam O Alaikum
Dear amir
thank you
i myself dont like discussions for the sake of discussion only.

i just want to add one small reply yo yours last.
time has been changed alot since then.

now the meaning of all trades has been changed a lot, only thing which is unchangable is religion.

as in the time of ibn-il-hishem, he was the Doctor, scientist, physicist and chemist. but now u wont be able to see any one like him means hur-fun molla.

the needs of that time were so limited, time was not this much fast and people were helping each other, in that time there was trust as well.

i know their are alot of things need to be improved in muddrassas and we should do that.

but no one can correct any one, if he starts his talk with criticism, what i have learned from so many past years is "if you want help/correct some one then first become his friend, gain his trust and then start helping him improving. if we start our talks with heavy criticism then instead of thinking of us as a friend they will think of us as their enemy. (as i thought about you, sorry)".

i dont think we both needs more discussion on this topic, if any one else jumps in, then we will see.
as time is money... regards

Dear Noman

i really appreciate your effort to answer the questions of the article. it is so encouraging to noe that guys like u exist, who think and are willing to contribute.

however, i am really sorry that i dont agree with you, more than 95%. it is not because i am antimullah. but because i love mullah. when you love someone you try to explore them deeply. it is only when i went deep i saw darkness( there are enlightened Aalim e Deen who i revere, but i am talking on a general level).

dear brother, i dont have any expectations with military rulers, landlords and our so called politicians. they all themselves are lost in darkness. My expectations are with those, who claim to be bearers of TRUE KNOWLEDGE. for 60 years, they claimed to be the legetimate representatives of ISLAM. but they failed the whole nation.

Hazarat Muhammad(SAW) and his companions were active in economy, politics, education, business, military and diplomacy apart from religion. this in makkah as well as in madina. a medical doctor contributes to econmy BY 1- paying tax 2-healing sick businessman, economist etc 3-helps society. he should not laugh at question of economy. there is hell of a diff between a gov owned scholl that is GOVERNMENT OWNED and a Madrassah, which is NOT GOVERNMENT OWNED

dear noman! debate can prolong without any contructive output. if i will have time and will, i will answer these questions myself. thankyou for ur time and hardwork.

regards

umer

I will try to give answers to your questions point by point. But this fot discussion not for an offense.

Now the so-called RELIGIOUS SCHOLARS who have declared a Theka on Islam wants to take that away from me? With danda in hand, threats on their tongues they are proclaiming that they will take away my Pakistan from me and turn it into a second Afghanistan.

Maullan Abdul Rasheed and his brother are not so-called Scholars, they are good muslims there is no doubt about it. They have danda in their hand against the guns (we should admire their courage atleast), they have threats on their tongue (for those who are against Islam and for those wh are trying to alter Islam). In Afghanistan in the era of Talibaan, the system was getting stable but they couldn't succeed because west was on  propaganda against them. even though they were the ruler of more then 75% of Afghanistan but no one (UNO) didnt recognized them as the ruler of Afghanistan and instead of giving them aid and support all tried to failed them. All the world criticized them for enforcing Islamic laws, laws in every country implemented by force, some time to save the patient doctors have to cut some part of the patient as well, this is not known as cruelty of doctor. In the era of Talibaan the opiom growth decreased upto zero%, and there were other improvement in the society as well, they were rigid, but it was needed upto some extent as the moral values were so low.

With news flashing Lal Masjid activities and newspaper highlighting their threats,

we all got concerend of their threat, and i think the only mistake they did is by announcing the threat of suicide attacks which was totally wrong, i agree with you on this.

What have you given to Islam?

Islam, in the present era is facing one of the most precarious times of its history. Muslims are divided. Islam itself is divided into hundreds of sects. There are Shias, Sunnis, Diobandis, Barelwees, Naksh Bandis, Ahley Hadees and many more.

why this question only asked to madrassas, why no one asked this Q to government or to other muslims, what have we all given to Islam?
Muslims are divided mailny because of the puppet leaders of Islamic countries not because of Mudrassas, how may mudrassas are their in lebenon or phalistine, why hamas and al-fatah fighting, why lebenon army opened fire on sunni camps...

Apart from internal divisions, Islam is also facing problems as due to the lack of its implementation in rapidly changing Global Scenarios.
If you think Islam needs to be reshaped according to global world, then you are at very big mistake, we need Islam in its original shape and this is the only solution of all problems of muslims.

Dear dissenters of Lal Masjid Brigade, thousands of Students have become Aalim-e-Deen from your Madrassah. (Masters of Religion) I would like to ask:

this is the fact mudraasas havent produced good number of Aalim-e-Deen yet, but still all imams in our mosques are due to these mudrassas, as our educational minister even dont know how many siparas are their in Qurran, o we cant expect our educational system to train good muslims for us as well, as a matter of fact in canada/usa where there are no mudrasas it is very hard to find even muslim person to give bath to deads of muslims, so there is a need of mudrassas in islamic societies without any doubt, but every thing needs to be well organized.

- Have you carried out any research, proposed a solution or exerted efforts to verify the causes and cater the problem of Sectarian Divisions in Pakistan? What have you done to unite the divided masses? (I am talking about common Pakistanis, among whom there are groups who even refuses to greet each other with respect due to sectarian bias)

your this point is totally valid i am agreed. no one yet has payed any major role in this regard, but even though all blame doesnot go to mudrassas only, this is our collective failure, and we all need to find a solution for this.

- Have you ever introduced and implemented any probable scheme that would include erudite Pakistanis to cater the perilous threats that Islam and Muslims are facing in present times because of Missionary and Zionist attacks on our Islam? Apart from cursing them after every prayer and especially in Friday sermons, have you practically done anything that has benefited Islam? (Except for preparing suicide bombers and jihadis to fight a false battle)

Islam's current hatred picture in the world is not due to these mudraasas it is due to puppet leaders, Islam's popularity is declining due to the defensive and applogatic approch of muslim leaders, when a muslim killed a man even on personal grounds westren media always project him as a muslim killer and we all start to give explanation. this explanation and applogatic behaviour of muslims have put us on back foot. in my opinion if instead of giving explanation, if instead of running back to books, if instead of arguing with the west that his is not islam, we should only condemn them, if we make our approch more agressive then we can very easily can take the pride of Islam back.

- Have you ever carried out any research and proposed solutions about how can we implement Islam effectively in our Corporate and Civil Sector? How can a Banker, an Engineer and a Sales person excel in his work due to Islamic practices?

What have you done for Scholars of Islam?
I think alot of work on these issues has been done by Islamic Scholars, as mudraasa is like a school, and you cant get PHD degrees from school, Mudrassas last degree is equillant to graduation in Paksitan, so you cant expect a research from a graduate, research is the duty of doctors and they are doing their work, it has nothing to do with mudrassas.

- What is the future of students studying in your Madrassah?

they  are not baggers, they can earn as much as they need, they are like millions of others who have graduation degree and living hand to mouth, they are still better (on the education level) from them who are illitrate.

- Are you competent enough to face the challenges of rapidly changing global scenarios? Can you become the leaders of tomorrow in the field of Arts, Science, technology or authority in Religion?

Are you?

- Can you represent Islam on Global Forums? Are you cognizant of Global Politics, Christian and Zionist Psychologies and the kind of threat they are imposing on Islam?

this answer i have given above in PHD discussion.

-To this day, you have been surviving on charity and sadkas, what have you done to make your Madrassah self-sufficient?

they are just like government schools which oly run on Government aids, have you ever asked this question to any government school...

these mudrasas gives lodging, boarding and education against no money, we should be proud of them instead of humilating them. Government should put more funds to them.

- You are so powerless and weak that the only solution you have to bring a change in the society is the short cut of blowing yourself up? Was this the way our ancestors adopted when they stood against the ignorant fiends of the time?

Are you WEAK enough to blow yourself for any cause.....

What have you done for Pakistan?

what you have done for Pakistan, what i have done for Paksitn, what we all have done for Pakistan.

- What have you given to Pakistan? How many Thinkers, Scientists, Sociologists, Doctors and Leaders have you produced?

- Have you ever carried out any research, proposed any solutions or exerted any commendable efforts that can move Pakistan towards prosperity?

Answer has given above in PHD dicusion. there are hudredrs of islamic scholar in the world, some of them started their education from mudrasas some of them didnt, but i have explained very cearly mudrasas in Pakistan are mostly of basic level and it is not in their reach to train people upto that level. but its not their fault, as you cant expect school to produce scholars and similarly you cant close school on the basis of not producing doctors

- You have declared the fatwa that Army men dying in Waziristan are not shahid (they cannot even have a Muslim's funeral), but are you competent enough to replace these accomplished individuals who have fought bravely and died for the prosperity of this land?

if an army officer attacks mosque or try to burn Qurran and got killed, will he be know as Shaheed, ofcourse not. in waziristaan operation is totally of wrong causes, evem though i am not in the favour of that fatwa neither against it.

- You claim to be authority on Islam, where is Islam in Pakistan? Where were you and your elders for last 60 years? Now by taking over a Children's Library and threatening suicide attacks (that will claim more lives of innocent Pakistanis), you think you can implement Shariah overnight in Pakistan?

yes you are right there is no Islam in Paksitan and that is why they are fighting for that. after sixty hopless years they (may be) come to the conclusion that there is no hope, and now they have to take charge in their hand, may be they wil die tmorrow but they have given the FOOD for THOUGHT, may be after them people will realize that they were the firt drop of rain.

- What have you done to improve the image of Pakistan in International community?

its not their duty, just yesterday i read how Pak Army is improving the image of Pakistan, image of contry is the responsiblity of government ot the responsiblity of individulas.

- What is your contribution for the Education Sector, Agriculture Sector, Industrial Sector, Defense Sector and Economy of Pakistan?

what is their conribution in Islam in Paksitan, this is use less Question, if you ask question to medical college what is your contribution in economy, they will laugh at you.

What have you done for a Common Pakistani?

- What have you done for me, for a common Pakistani? How dare you raise your hand on me, abduct me and call me kafir, when you have always considered me Nijs (impure)?

Mosques and mudrassas are never closed for muslim, and i any one called you nijs or kaffir without any reason then ofcourse he is wrong, but if you are drinking wine having sex with girls then ther eis no doubt you are kaffir and nijs.

(After all, you are an Educational Institution, where young minds are shaped to lead the nation in the future)

even after this heavy mandate they are in opposition, why dont you ask this question to concerning person (government)

- Why have you made Pakistanis, terrorists and suicide bombers in the eyes of International community? Now, even true Scholars from Pakistan are deprived of getting Education and Experience in the developed world.

they havnt, west made suicide bombers, i will ask you to see this video, british MP itself is saying they(suicide bombers)  are right. this (deprived) is due to impotancy of muslim world

-  What have you done for the moral grooming of Pakistanis? What have you done to eradicate false practices of late marriages in our society? Where were you when Obscenity and fascism was creeping in our populace? (Probably you were breaking televisions in streets or sleeping in caves)

this has nothing to do with them

- How many role models, heroes and mentors are amongst you, who can be idolized by the youngsters?

there are many, but may be you will call half of them terrorist and remiang half mullahs.

- How can you explain your ultimate love for Taliban, Foreigners and Afghans? Don't you realize how much they have damaged the life of a common Pakistani by introducing Drugs, Weapons and Violence in our society?

if talibaan  were allowed to do all what you said in Paksita then who is responsible for it, Talibaan or Pakistani government, first of all this is the duty of government to protect people from others, secondly talibaan were thse who finihed drugs from Afghanistan, they were never involved in any violence in Paksitan, if you have evidence let us know, and arms were smuggles, so ask those who smuggles this into Pakistan.

How will you Implement Shariah?

- Every Pakistani wants to know how will you implement Shariah? Do you have any detailed research carried out? Do you have any plan; strategy and a work break down structure to make it possible?

look they know with their these efforts they can't implement the shariah, but they want government to implement it. if you read their demands again they are asking government to do that, because they know they cant do it. may be they took the wrong action, but this is for right cause.

- Are you planning to convert Pakistan into Afghanistan of Taliban and adopt methods of Mullah Umer and his mentors, who are now nowhere close to Afghans who are being slaughtered in their own homes (Unfortunately, you don't have anything different from Taliban, both in vision and knowledge).

in their every speech they have said they want Mauhmmad's (PBUH) Islam and jsut for your knowledge talibaan is getting strength again in Afghanistan because people has realized USA is their biggest enemy.

- How will you implement Shariah in a country of 160 million people? How will you do it in thousands of Courts, Police Stations, Military Bases, Educational institutions, Public places etc? If you have any plan than then where it is?

its very easy brother, inshahAlalh a day will come and you will see with your own eyes that how easily this can be done, we already have a parallel court or shariah in Paksitan, but its not as much big job as much you are saying.

i have tried my best to give you answers, May Allah gives all of us real guidance, you know we (mullah and anti-mullah) all biased and we all are extremist, we all cant co-exist which each other at the moment, as if i am mullah, you will only oppose me even if i am right and same i will do.

i think we both needs to be flexible enough to c exist and instead of our appearances we should judge every thing on merit

I ask same questions to Opposite side and Editor of this article
Well, I must ask same questions to the Govt. people.
Everyone is aware how they are getting foreign investments i.e. by selling govt. institutes to foreign private sector.

Everyone is aware how army has taken over and how the retired army officials and even on job officials are capturing the civil seats in government offices.

Everyone is aware that how present government is giving its nation an open mind towards so many Anti-Islamic activities.

Everyone is aware how present govt. is trying to implement Marshal-Law in the packing of Democracy.

Everyone is aware that how present govt. raises Lal Masjid issue for its own political rise

Talking about Islam and Sharia implementation.

Can you please tell me that when and how present govt. even talked about its implementation by itself? Instead they talked about "Roshan Khayali" in which woman is exposed in such kind of way which is in-fact Insult of Woman.

Do you want me to find more evils of this govt? Or you will find the answers by yourself.
