His Excellency, The Ambassador of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Japan,

Tokyo

Copies to

His Excellency Imam, Maher Al-Baladi, Imam Haram, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mecca,

His Excellency, the Foreign Minister, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh,

His Excellency, the Religious Affairs Minister, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh

His Majesty King Abdullah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh

For information and necessary action

Your Excellency,

Subject:  Either the Respectful Imam Maher should resign as Imam Haram or your embassy staff should be dismissed for a series of broken promises and lies to Muslims in Japan

I am a senior Pakistani Muslim living in Japan for the last 43 years involved in several Muslim affairs and Dawah activities in this country, I have met your late King Faisal in Japan and made him a request in writing, which he kindly accepted and implemented. At the initiative of your embassy, when Mr. Kurdi, now your country's Ambassador in Madrid, was just an officer in your embassy in Tokyo, I was invited by Rabitah Al-Alam-Al-Islami to visit your country along with the late Haji Umar Mita for getting approval of his Japanese translation by Saudi Ulama.  I have met you twice in the Iftar Party

of American Ambassador in Tokyo during the last two Ramadhans and given my name card to Your Excellency.

Your Excellency, it is a matter of great regret that your embassy staff has been acting very irresponsibly and damaging the good reputation of Imam Kaaba by their broken promises and constant lies to the Muslims in Japan. Please investigate who is responsible for it. Whoever is responsible for it, he should be dismissed from his job to save the reputation of Islam, Muslims, your country and Imam Haram.

On Thursday, July 31, it was told to us by your Saudi staff that 4 to 7 p.m. time has been reserved for the Imam to go to Mustafa Mosque in Iwai.  But when the said Mosque representatives came to receive Imam at 4 p.m., that promise was broken outright and a new fictitious promise was made that Imam will go after Maghreb. This 2nd promise was again broken and a 3rd fictitious promise was made that Imam will go there after Isha.  As usual, this 3rd promise was also broken without any regrets. Imam was taken to Iraq Ambassador residence instead of Mustafa Mosque as promised.  500 people were ready to welcome Imam even after his finishing dinner with Iraq Ambassador.  But they had to go back to their homes after waiting for over 5, 6 hours since Asr time, as again a new lie was invented that the respectful Imam is now very tired and a verse of Quran was quoted that "LA YUKALLEFULLAHO NAFSAN ILLAH USAAHA".

The tiredness of Imam was also a new lie, as the Imam was kept at the dinner table until midnight. Had your embassy staff any regard for fulfilling the promises made in the name of Imam, the dinner could have finished in 30 to 40 minutes or even in one hour.  After that Imam could have gone to Mustafa Mosque and come back to his hotel by midnight.  His tiredness was used a pretext, as he was kept at dinner until midnight.  He could have come back by that time, if your embassy staff would have any regard for maintaining the respect and good reputation of Imam Haram to keep up his promises.

Your Excellency, you may be aware that in the first few verses of Surah ABASA WA TAWALLA, Allah has instructed our Prophet (PBUH) that he should pay more attention to a blind Muslim who wanted to hear his teachings instead of paying attention to the noble infidel leaders of Mecca.  This applies to the decision of your staff cancelling 500 persons' gathering at Mustafa Mosque last night, who wanted to get Hidaya through Imam Haram.  Eating and enjoying delicious dishes at the dinner invitation of Iraq Amabssador was given more importance.  Instead of cancelling this merry-making party, they preferred to cancel the desire of 500 Muslims and their newly converted Japanese Muslim wives to get Hidaya through Imam Haram.

We have no answer to reply to the criticism of people that why the respectful Imam did not assert himself over the Saudi staff that his promises should not be broken?  Why he allowed himself to be played as a toy in the hands of your embassy staff, whereas his personal reputation and responsibility was involved in the broken promises made in his name?

Now the converted Japanese Muslim wives and others are putting all this blame on the Imam.  They are now taunting that what kind of Imam do you have, who could not keep his promise, whereas all Japanese Kafirs and infidels do not take the refuge of Insha-Allah to break any promise. Your embassy staff explained to me the meaning of Insha-Allah.  It appears that these holy words are being used as a passport of breaking promises one after the other.

I will explain the details over the phone and/or ready to come to your embassy with my aggrieved friends, if you are prepared to investigate and take action in this connection.  My phone No. is 09033566207.

Looking forward to your serious investigation of this matter, I remain,

Sincerely, Yours,

Hussain Khan, M.A. (Tokyo),

A 75-year old senior Muslim in Japan,

I think that Mr. Hussain's letter is not insulting at all. Though it's harsh but he deserves this right due to the misery he and a lot other people suffered that night. I think we musliums have a right to question our leaders wheather they are religious or political cause no human is free of faults.

I have heard a story of Hazrat Omar bin Khatab (if my information is flawed then plz don't hesitate in correcting me.) that once he is accused of taking 2 clothes pieces (due to his long height) from beit-ul-mall when everyone got 1, by an ordainary member of community. His son stood up & explained that he has given his father his share of cloth. Omar than praised the questioning saying that as long as umma has fearless people questioning their leaders, rest assure all be well.

Rather, I thank Mr. Hussain for his concerns voiced due to which Embassy compansated and Immam's reputation was saved in the eyes of japanese musliums. Otherwise Immam's reputation must have been ditched & he must have been blamed for the broken promises directly and thought of a lowly man as one more among the ordianary lot.

Assalamu Alaykum,

Thanks for your comments and suggestions.

As regards the facts mentioned in my letter, even Saudi embassy staff has not disputed it.  The Charge de Affairs was also angry like me over the person in charge of the Respectful Imam's program of their embassy on that day.  He replied to Mr. Taher Hussain of Toyama, who had presented my letter to him and other Saudi embassy staff people that we had contacted the wrong person for Imam's program.  He said that had he been contacted himself for this purpose, all this mess would not have occurred.

He further emphasized that they have extended Imam's stay in Japan for another two days to let him fulfill his promise of going to Mustafa Mosque.

The first few words in my subject-line created the misunderstanding and the impression that I have written a letter against the respectful Imam.  If I drop those first few words and keep the remaining half, you will find nothing about the resignation of Imam in the body of the letter.  Please read that letter again after changing the subject-line as below:

SUBJECT:  "YOUR EMBASSY STAFF SHOULD BE DISMISSED FOR A SERIES OF BROKEN PROMISES AND LIES TO THE MUSLIMS IN JAPAN"

It is all directed against embassy staff that their irresponsible management of the program is creating a bad image against the respectful Imam, which all of us want to uphold even in the eyes Japanese Muslim wives.

On the first day, all embassy staff was angry on Taher, who gave them the letter.  It was all about the mishandling of respectful Imam's would-be program at Mustafa Mosque in Iwai city.  That program was very successful yesterday and all the misunderstandings were cleared even before it.  Mr. Taher was told by the brother of the Imam at the end of all angry-talks on the very first day that we are all brothers and after the successful end of Mustafa Mosque program, he invited Mr. Taher to stay in his house, whenever he came to Mecca. Mr. Taher, on my behalf and on behalf of himself embraced with all Saudi embassy staff yesterday and both the Sheiks, i.e. the respectful Imam and his brother.  At the end, they were all laughing together in a brotherly way.  Laughing was louder when Taher told them my idea that brotherly love becomes stronger and deeper after fighting, as myself and Taher were fighting with the Saudi embassy staff to uphold the image of the respectful Imam

Our Egyptian brother Khaled, a PHD student in Niigata, also explained our position to Imam's brother in Arabic, who was satisfied with his explanation.

I had also gone there with the intention of clearing the misunderstanding.  But I had no chance to explain my position. I had to return back, while the speech of the Imam was still continuing.  On the way going toward Iwai city, while travelling side by side with embassy car yesterday, I saluted to the Charge-de-Affairs from my car.  He laughingly replied, "I am very angry with you", I replied, "Sorry". The person who was driving the embassy car was the same whom I had accused.  He also made signs towards me laughingly, which I took as if he was telling me in sign-language that you have targeted and accused me.  I gave him a reply in signs that I am sorry for that.  The respectful Imam was sitting beside him and was constantly smiling, while looking at me staringly.  I also saluted to him and made a sign of sorry.  He started praying for me in Arabic.  I have received his prayers for me personally several times during my two-days travel with him.  I am writing memoirs of this travel separately in Urdu, Insha-Allah.

If still any misunderstanding remains, please write to me again.  After  getting your final comments, I will circulate it to all.

Was-Salam,

Hussain Khan

Dear Hussain Khan .I am sorry to read your angry letter  with some unrespectful hints about the Imamul Haram whome you loved, translated. ,travelled with, had food with and  spoke so high of him all the time. True  a persron loses his senses in anger. This is exacty what happened with you in this case.

Please  ask Allah to forgive you. You should have  written a letter to Imam first and investigated then written anything in  such a bad temprament.Have you spoken to Imam? Have you spoken to Ambassador? Have you directly spoken to " that " person who is responsible for Imam program? Are you sure that the Imam really made a firm promise to go to Mustafa  mosque at the request of Mr....?.Did the Imam make  Mustafa Mosque promise in your presence?Who gave you the athority to write such afunny letter. It is not scholar Hussain Khan.It is  some one out of mind. ASTAGHFIRULLAH.

As a sincere well-wisher of yours,I suggest you to immediately issue a letter of cancellation of the unsuitable letter and apologise to all concerened as soon as possible. If the embassy staff made mischief, why Imam should be  castigated?. You know Imams are not a free person, specially when abroad. He has to go where he is taken. They cannot make their independent programs, you know the truth about these  personalities.

You have committed a sin my brother by writing a letter which is insulting The Imam of Haram. May Allah Forgive you and forgive too.I hope to see your apology letter soon. May Allah guide us all.He is not only your Imam.Hussain Khan Please read your letter again. You have hurt my feeling and of all others .Please act soon, before it is too late.Send my letter to all those whom you sent copy of your letter against the Imam.if you love justice.
