ZAB’s death anniversary was certainly an impressive event by any count. All those who mattered had dutifully paid their homage in person to the great leader. Lots of flowers and floral wreaths were placed upon the grave before they offered fateha for the departed soul. They travelled from far and near by train, air and helicopters which must have cost them substantial amount. Click here to read Full Article

During the 4th Annual General Meeting of the Thinkers Forum of Pakistan (www.thinkersforumpakistan.org), while discussing the present sad state of governance in the country the forum arrived at the conclusion that unless the system is changed mere change of faces won’t do any good to the country. There is no chance for anyone from the middle or lower middle classes to be elected in any election Click here to read Full Article

Fazal ur Rehman of JUI survived two bomb attacks one after the other on two consecutive days at two different places, though many in the rallies died and many others maimed for life. Our leaders seem to be too fond of displaying their political strength by holding rallies, little realizing that in doing so they offer the terrorists with an ideal situation of carrying out bomb and suicidal attacks. The TV channels in the country air the political talk shows with such abundance that they cannot always find quality politicians to participate in them. The second and third rung politicians in their eagerness to outdo each other and prove themselves more loyal than the king not only present a scene out of a fish market – all talking simultaneously without listening to the other - but also e Click here to read Full Article

I feel the public opinion is being molded in a subtle way by the government, part of the media and some 'intellectuals' in the favour of releasing Raymond if he otherwise could not be granted diplomatic immunity. Raymond is no ordinary 'consultant' as is evident from the way the entire US government machinery including President Obama are acting in this matter.
