A news report says, “National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Chaudhry Qamar Zaman has decided to reopen and pursue major corruption cases, including those against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, former president Asif Ali Zardari and other prominent politicians”. Some say the ‘opening’ is to ‘close’ them for ever. Click here to read Full Article

It was quite amusing to see GeneralKhalid Shameem Wynne, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee himself doing the Slow March by jerking his feet forward one at a time in drill square style just as was being done by the two escorts ahead of him while he was reviewing the Guard of Honour presented to him on his retirement. The ZilHajj moon was sighted on 6th October 2013 in Pakistan where as it appeared on the 5th in Saudi Arabia. Hajj would, therefore, be performed on the 14th October and the Eid ul Azha on the 15th at Makkah whereas in Pakistan Hajj will be observed on the 15th and Eid on the 16th consecutively. Hajj is one thing that CANNOT be performed anywhere in the world except Makkah. Is it not something Click here to read Full Article

Coming events cast their shadows before” is a time old adage. From what the MNS regime has done in their first 120 days or so to alleviate the lot of the poor, one cannot pin much hopes for the betterment during the rest of their ruling period also. Everyone knows that we as a nation are cash strapped and our almost all problems are due to the non-availability of funds in the required ratios. W Click here to read Full Article

It was indeed heartening to read the news (Pakistan Observer 25 Sept. 2013) that the Pakistan Ex Servicemen Association - PESA has decided to provide security on its own to the churches in Pakistan through its ex-servicemen members, who are found all over the country. The overall security measures shall be co-ordinated by Brigadier SamsonSimon Sharaf (Retd) – a founding member of PESA and a perso Click here to read Full Article
Chairman NAB by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

The important post of the Chairman NAB has been lying vacant for the past four months since 28 May 2013 when the Supreme Court ruled that Admiral Bukhari’s selection was in violation of the constitution. For all practical purposes the functioning of the NAB has come to a standstill because as per the law, NAB cannot take decisions on any pending cases unless the chairman signs off on them. Bilawal turns 25 and the Aerial Firing: by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)
Posted By: Riaz On: 23/Sep/2013 Views:1695 Replies:0
What a shame for the authorities as to how their orders not to resort to aerial firing in jubilation were flouted brazenly and blatantly by those celebrating Bilawal Zaradi Bhutto’s attaining the age of 25 years? Would the SHO, the DPO, the DIG, the IGP or even the Home Minister of Sindh show some moral courage and strength of character to book the perpetrators of this crime for violating the law Click here to read Full Article
Peshawar Church Blasts by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Tragic beyond words as it is the worst part of it is that it is one of the poorest minority communities that the cruel savages have targeted. It is, however, laudable that apart from other immediate measures to succour the community Rs 5 lac each for a dead and Rs. 2 lacs each for a wounded have been announced both by the govts. of KPK as well as Sindh. That will come to Rs 10 lacs for each dead Click here to read Full Article

PAKISTAN– what was to be and what it is by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Pakistancame into being sixty two years ago. There are not many around who saw it happening. Some alive today though may have been born yet might not have been mature enough to grasp the politics of the time, unless they are today in their late seventies or more. How many of this class are alive today? And of those alive, how many care to correct the wrong, which is like swimming upstream against Click here to read Full Article
