The recent devastations caused by rain water once again compelled the men of conscience to think objectively on the situations. The situation was not different from the one of the 2005 earthquake which compelled the people to unite and help each other without waiting for the Governmental measures.
We attribute everything, which is beyond our control, to Almighty Allah but do not think that why such tyrannous incidents come in our lives?
Before any conclusion, we should compare our acts to the acts of the people whom the Almighty Allah destroyed and then have been mentioned in the Holy Quran as the precedent cases in order to get lesson from the stories mentioned.
Self Accountability is necessary for bringing our conduct to the parameters set by Allah or at least our intention should be act upon those principles which may enable our lives safe and happy.
At same time it is necessary to be mentioned that we should not put ourselves in the laps of the religious-cum-political leaders because they misuse our love for the religion and enjoy the blessings of the Governmental powers. They show us one picture and then do the opposite.
It is astonishing that people give every kind of tax and bear every kind of price hike but when faced with any natural calamity, then the Governmental resources become insufficient and the people are left at the mercy of the people.
The main purpose of the established Government is that it shall manage such like situations but when the Governmental institutions become helpless then why the people should sustain the burden of those institutions for the years.
It has been observed that in every natural calamity, we ask Mr. Abdus Sattar Edhi, who has devoted his life to the service of the aggrieved. He has become the symbol of service to humanity while the Governmental institutions merely do every thing for the "˜shows'.
It is encouraging for the people of the Pakistan that U.S. Government has the intention of using funds in Pakistan under Kerry-Lugar Act through the Non Governmental Organisations. My suggestion is that no one is more suited than Mr. Edhi for this purpose. He should be allowed to get the services of any sub-organisation in this regard.
People have always heaps of complaints against the organisations of the Government mainly due to the mismanagement and misappropriation of the resources. Prudence demands that people should be participated through the organisations which are trusted by them. When the people pay to him from their pockets at the time of calamity then why not the funds which are diverted to the Governmental institutions should be given to him.
Patwaris and Tehsildars are given the job of assessment who have already no good reputation among the people. Moreover, they have many other jobs which need their more attention. At least the jobs of welfare nature and handling disasters should be handed over to Mr. Edhi for the reason that he has no other job except the help of people in distress.
Concentration and devotion are mainly demanded from every department for which that department is constituted. For example, Police has been established for one job while it is doing other jobs. As a result its concentration is badly shattered and it becomes difficult for them to devote its attention for the job for which it has been established.
The unique characteristic of Mr. Edhi's job is that he always remains alert to any kind of extraordinary situations. The Government happens unable even to control the prices of the essential commodities which the people give in charity to the people in the grief. The principles of economics become more intense than the principles of fellow-feelings.
Friend in need is a friend indeed. The maxim is aptly applicable on Mr. Edhi than on any Governmental Organisation. He needs to be equipped with resources both of rescue and rehabilitation. When an organisation is of no use to the people then that should be abolished because the valuable assets should not be wasted on those who are not deserved. Not employment but service should be the criterion for the existence of the organisation.
When it is said that only Government cannot handle the situation then why not those organisations should be encourage that have better capability to handle the situations. The Government institutions have become symbols of misappropriation, corruption, mismanagement and favouritism.
Each institution is properly trained for a specific job. The present malady is due to the doing of jobs by institutions not meant for them. The Government should consider the institutions and their jobs then one can expect of any improvement.
