Blasphemy law is not black law but it needs review like Hudood Ordinance!
Salman Taseer got killed – right or wrong, only Allah knows but the only mistake made by him was voicing his opinion before the court verdict! At least, he was not hypocrite like other politicians of Pakistan especially the heads of many of religious-political parties in Pakistan! He was culturally Muslim, as he has told to his son, Aatish Taseer, years before when he met with him the night when Benazir Bhutto got killed – 27th Dec 2007! This means his knowledge about Islam was little less than the common men and he wasn’t practicing Muslim.
You might have seen on number of occasions, the governor of Punjab, Salman Taseer, offering Eid prayers in front row, with true Pakistani dress and Jinnah cap, might have given you the feeling that he is religious person. But the fact is that, it is part of culture on such occasions; Eid ul Fitr, eid ul Adha, Muharram, and funeral prayers. And anyone shows his presence doesn’t mean that he is ideologically Muslim like Munawar Hassan of Jamat e Islami or Kukab Noorani of Gulzar e Habib! So Salman Taseer was Muslim in that cultural sense!
There are number of cases registered against so many Christians in Punjab under blasphemy law. This means that someone went to Police station with two evidences, in some cases without any evidence, and registered a case that so & so person had used ‘bad language’ against our beloved Holy Prophet (sallahu alyhay wasallum) and hence Police catch that person and register the case under this law! Aasia bibi case is same, she is charge under blasphemy and the case was registered by a Molvi sahab after 21 days of incident, as the FIR says! The whole episode started when Muslims ladies refused to sit with her while taking food and refrain themselves to take water from the hands of Aasia bibi because she is Christians! This had offended Aasia and she made few remarks about Muslims. After three weeks of this incident the case was registered against her and under real pressure from fanatics she was given a verdict – to be hanged by session court! Indeed, High court or Supreme Court would take notice of this case and the truth shall come out insha Allah!
But the governor of Punjab, Salman Taseer, when brought to his knowledge, rushed to jail, met with Aasia and issued a press statement becoming emotional and termed ‘blasphemy law’ as black law. This was his mistake, made under heavy emotions! He should have used his words carefully. Blasphemy law is not a black law, we all believe in the respect of our beloved Holy Prophet, and none of the Muslim could even think about it in his dreams! Same is the case with Salman Taseer too, he didn’t utter single word about Holy Prophet (sallahu Alyhay wasallum) but refuted the law unwisely even after knowing the fact that fanatic groups in rural areas are much more powerful than the imaginations of Govt of Pakistan! He has paid the price of his mistake!
There is no comparison between Ghazi Alam Deen Shaheed and Mumtaz Qadri. Ghazi alam Deen had killed a publisher who had penned down the dirtiest book about the Holy Prophet of Islam whereas Salman Taseer didn’t say single word against the Holy Prophet as he was Muslim. His statement was about the law in reference that it is used against Christians’ only in Pakistan. With this reference he has termed it as black law! Pakistani nation, as a whole, is always misguided – some times by politicians, many times by religious leaders, and sometimes by International powers! Mumtaz Qadri is being taken as hero by such religious groups who have other agenda! A simple fact is not considered here is that ‘the right of justice is with courts, not with individuals.’ Those lawyers, who are pretending Mumtaz Qadri as Alam Deen Shaheed, should learn to respect law first! They should give chance to Higher & Supreme Courts first to trail Salman Taseer rather than individuals to kill anyone as per their personal justice!
Hudood ordinance, even though had been drafted with utmost care, Ulemas like Mufti Taqi Usmani got involved in its formulation, but whole world knows that it is misused badly. Approximately 23,000 women are in jail under this law; adultery cases which they didn’t commit, and their children are also with them! Our Police & Judicial system is so corrupt that an innocent person may stay there for ever! Thus, any law made by man, is always needs review! Probably, that was the reason that divine revelations have been sent, and when they became distorted by men, Holy Quran was revealed!

اس قتل کی جتنی تعریف کی جائے اتنا کم ہے. الله سبحانه تعالیٰ ہم سب کو وہ ممتاز قادری جیسی بہادری اور حوصلہ دے.

Thank you Noman
Thanks Noman for writing a balanced view!
Yes Salman Taseer had made a mistake in voicing his opinion badly! But as a whole, we need to review the whole blasphamey law as we might not implicate non-muslims wrongfully!
We all know that Christain donot believe in the Prophethood of Rasul ullah (sallahu alyhay wasallum) but still Quran has allowed Muslims to get married with Ahl-e-Kitab ladies!
Especially in most part of Punjab (not urban) the trend is horrible! The village Molvi is everything, with corrupt landlord, he can do everything even he could authorized to take the lives of innocent Muslims as well as non-Muslims!
You are right, Salman Taseer should had wait for court decision and then only he could voiced his opinion. But please note that one of the judge got killed also in past, when he had acquitted in blasphamey case. Reason being, religious fanatics need verdict of their choice!
I am glad to hear your balanced view and I hope this is needed among young generation to make Pakistan better!
May Allah guide us towards right path and give real love in our hearts for Holy Prophet (Sallahu Alyhay wasallum), ameen!

Dear Nadia, partly you are right and partly you are wrong. But as a whole, you are missing the point. Salman Taseer didn't got killed for favoring Aasia, he got killed for calling "Tauheen-e-Risalut Law" a "Black Law". and let me tell you, this is not the first time, he insulted islam this way.
I am also not saying, Aasia case is right or wrong, so Maulvi was right or wrong is different story. Let us wait for court to decide about Aasis. But let me say one thing, the way Salman had taken up this Case, he didn't help Aasia, he had made enormous amount of problems for her.
No one should take law in his/her hand. But this happen only in a society where people have faith in the law or law machinery. But in Pakistan, no one has faith in law and that is why, people are taking law in their hands.
So, i also condemn this killing only from law prospective, but for this wrong doing, guilty is not Mumtaz but the guilty is government. They should have done the thing, which Mumtaz did.

Wrong Approach
Dear all & especially Noman,
You can't give RIGHT to anyone to kill anyone. So whatever Qadri had done is truly wrong!
True, Assia case is in court, the only mistake Salman Taseer had made as he voiced his opinion before the court verdict. Can anyone of you able to read the case details of Assia, the Molvi sahab had made case against her after 21 days. Means that Molvi sahab was SLEEPING for 21 days about Namoos e Risalat!
The love of Holy Prophet (sallahu alyhay wassalum) is in our blood but this doesn't give us right to kill non-Muslims in the name of blasphamey!

1-Almost Ever country in the world has Blasphemy law to protect their religious people or to avoid such comments which can offend others. So, there is and there should not be any talk of "no Blasphemy Law". First you make your west to let people talk about holocaust and then we will see, what we need to do.
Yes you are right that God will do the justice then why the hell he has created us. We and every person is guardian of their religion (Ir-respective of their religion). One should try to protect it upto the extent he/she can do.
if you really are leaving every thing to the God then why you are upset with The killer.. let his case to be with God as well.
secondly, Salman taseer didn't get killed for protecting Asia, he got killed for his comments regarding Tauheen-e-Risalut Law.
thirdly, He and Western media gave importance to Asia case out of the context, because her case wasn't finalized yet as high court and supreme court are still to follow the case. But Salman and others thought this the chance to target the Blasphemy law, which is a thorn in the eyes of west from long.
you please keep your facts straight and then jump into the discussion.

First, I don't read urdu (or read horribly) so I don't know if this article is supporting the act or not BUT, I DO NOT think that there should be a Blasphemy Law. What give us humans the right to kill each other? If someone wants to talk shit, let them. Allah will make them pay the price. We are NOT GOD. The man should not have been killed by that fact alone. Shame to the body gaurd. He is an ignorant fool who doesn;t even know his own religion. Pakistan is going down the dark path...the forgieners don't like us mate. I speak from experience. Right now, there is nothing good about Pakistan. Ppl need to stop being ignorant, practice PROPER islam and stop making up shit.
The women that he was protecting was chrisitan but so what? shes human too AND pakistani. -----. What the hell is pakistan teaching they're children these days? Intolerance for other religions. ISLAM forbids that.
