Pakistan enters UNSC
-DR. ABDUL RUFF
_________
Pakistan is all set to enter the notorious UNSC as an elected non-permanent member from Asia-Pacific region quota when the General Assembly holds annual elections to the powerful 15-nation body on 18th October Friday. Islamabad is all hopes to win a seat on the much discredited but operating more as a terrorist organization than a dignified forum committed to the welfare of humanity.
Pakistan had been on the UNSC for 6 terms but in recent years it did not show any inclination to be on UNSC, or possibly USA did not let it be on that forum. Pakistan’s earlier terms on the Council were in 2003-04, 1993-94, 1983-84, 1976-77, 1968-69 and 1952-53.
Recently, the new Pakistani foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar, during her address to the UN General Assembly last month had sought support for Pakistan’s election to the Council. Many nations have already pledged support to Islamabad. Possibly USA would also support Islamabad's bid.
Elections for a two-year term — running from January 1, 2012, to December 31, 2013 on the Security Council, controlled by USA-UK terror twins, are being held on the basis of regional ballots.
Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan are vying for a seat available to the Asia-Pacific group. Nine countries are vying for the five non-permanent seats on the Security Council that will fall vacant on December 31, 2011. Both Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan are hoping to get elected as they were doing some last-minute lobbying.
The candidates include Kyrgyzstan, Mauritania, Morocco, Pakistan and Togo (from the African and Asia-Pacific States); Azerbaijan, Hungary and Slovenia (from the Eastern European States); and Guatemala (from the Latin American and Caribbean States).
Three candidates will be elected from Africa and the Asia-Pacific region, one from Eastern Europe and one from Latin America and the Caribbean. All except Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Guatemala had previously served on the Council. To win, each country needs to garner support from two thirds of those present and voting in the Assembly, the target being 128. Voting is by secret ballot.
Every year a few members retire from the organization. The countries whose terms are expiring this year are Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Gabon, Lebanon and Nigeria. The other five temporary members that will remain through 2012 besides are India, Colombia, Germany, Portugal and South Africa.
The Security Council has five veto-holding permanent members - the USA, UK, France, Russia and China — and 10 temporary elected members without vetoes and they just promote US interests and support UNSC-5 fascist operations, including in Col. Qaddafi's Libya.
The Pakistan delegation, which is led by Ambassador Abdullah Haroon, appears to be confident of victory. He says they have worked very, very hard over the past months.
There is a positive sign to welcome Pakistan on UNSC once again. Islamabad has a very important job at hand of making the nation and people free from foreign military occupations and drone attacks. The regime in Islamabad has a prime duty to assure people of living in a really sovereign nation, governed by Islamic laws to serve all people equally, disregarding and opposing what the USA and European terrocracies want in Pakistan.
Hopefully Pakistan would use its newly found position to promote peace and prosperity in Pakistan and region a well as actively promote the speedy creation of much delayed Palestine. Obviously, Pakistan would play its proactive role in resolving the much maligned Kashmir issue towards making Jammu Kashmir a sovereign nation once again after decades of Indian brutal occupation and massacres since 1947.
Since the UNSC is now a very dangerous place, Pakistan should be alert not to get trapped by anti-Islamic rogue states for their own advantages against genuine interests of humanity and also has a vital role in restraining Arab nations from behaving like foolish rogues, along with the western cunning rogues, against Islam and Muslim nations.
It is absolutely necessary for Pakistan and others to use the UNSC to end the ongoing illegal terror wars spearheaded by the NATO terror syndicate led by USA-UK terror twins.
Maybe by this time, Pakistan has already become a member of UNSC.
Post-script
Now that Pakistan has been elected to the UNSC with the necessary votes from Asia-Pacific quota, the regime in Islamabad is expected to behave well as an independent and sovereign nation defending the people of Pakistan from the Obama drones and NATO terror attacks.
Obviously, UK-US-Indian gangs would be the worst hit as their anti-Pakistani terrorism and diplomatic gimmicks have failed and they would feel deadly suffocated by Pakistan's emergence on UNSC. India would not have expected this new turn of events in favor Pakistan at international level and would take this Pakistani advancement as its worst defeat for diplomacy against Pakistan. India will have to change its anti-Islamic,anti-Muslim, anti-Kashmiri, Anti-Pakistani politics. Only then Muslim in India would feel safe and get some dignity as humans who have the constitutional right to live.
Meanwhile, humanity, badly crushed and terrorized by NATO terror wars perpetuated by USA to advance its illegal energy security and arms-liquor trade, world would like to see if Pakistan would work for US interests or for uplifting the nation from destabilization and chaos. Pakistan has huge responsibility to shield humanity against fascist attacks from western terrocracies with Arab assistance. Islamabad must fight for converting the UNSC into UN peace council without any veto for any power because it is being rudely misused by USA and west against genuine interests ( Palestine, Kashmir, etc) of humanity.
