Which day none is killed in Karachi?

Just now I have read in one of the dailies that 10 people have reportedly been killed in Karachi during the past 24 hours and to be honest since long each and every day without any gap in between people are killed in Karachi which once was the face of the country if I am not mistaken.

It will be nothing but a futile exercise to mention as to who killed and whom where and why because there is no answer to such like W questions and despite the fact that we have ordinary police, elite police, citizens’ police, FIA and rangers etc human life is not safe in Karachi and people are killed for one reason or the other and rather sometimes they are killed even without any reason. The most alarming thing is that none but President Asif Ali Zardari himself has flown many times to Karachi in connection with safety and security situation of the metropolis and each time he has used quite harsh words openly telling the killers to stop the killing once for all or face the wrath of the long hands of the authorities. The whole nation has seen our head of the state holding live security high powered meetings and press conferences in Karachi wherein the president had been too loud and vocal in saying that the vagabonds cannot be spared rather they will be brought to justice but practically speaking the ground realities did not change. Human blood we bled in Karachi on the days when Zardari was very much in the city and it continued bleeding when he has gone back to Islamabad. On innumerous occasions President Zardari sent Malik Rehman came from Islamabad to Karachi to bring the volatile situation under control and the nation witnessed Malik amongst police top brass but his threats were unheard as the safety and security situation remained almost the same except that numbers are changed. If one day 4 were killed in Karachi for example then next perhaps lost their lives but on 3rd day 6 people left us forever which means that killing in Karachi is a continual process and hardly there is any day when none is killed.

Many organizational changes have been made in this connection where none but Home Minister too was changed whereas some new faces have been introduced as top boss named as Inspector General Police and it had been believed that such like changes and those too at such high level bring back peace to the most populated city of the country but alas the things did not improve upon. Even more people are brought in to strengthen police and other law enforcing agencies which are better equipped than before but the numerical changes both in manpower and equipment could not even contain the killing what to talk of eliminating the killing. So many commissions and teams have been formed from time to time to ensure that Karachi turns back as the most safest and enjoyable place in Pakistan but very regretfully I am to pen that it did not happen so till now and I very sincerely wish that human life must be safe and sound as it had been the case in our glorious past.

The worst part is that in most cases none is apprehended as the killers kill at their own and just run off laughing at the faces of those who are paid by our national exchequer to protect the lives of their fellow citizens and the result is that the killers are becoming more fearless and daunting to flush out human blood for some reasons or without reasons. They attack wherever and whenever and none can even awe them what to talk of arresting them and such like favorable situations motivate the killers to kill as many as possible. They are equipped with all type of weapons and they use whatever the situation demands. Hand grenade, bomb, pistol, rifle and knife are their common gadgets to be used by them against their ill fated preys and hardly anyone has tried to find out as to from where they can get such like gadgets. One needs quite handsome money to buy them lethal items as these are not like plastic cars for the kids so the question arises as to from where they get money to buy them. Moreover some of the items like bombs and hand grenades are not sold to public in any case so it demands an immediate investigation to dig out from where such items are being bought or procured.

Let me propose that ever since our entire law enforcing agencies have utterly failed to find out as to what is the main reason why and how people are killed it may not be a bad proposition to ask for UN delegation to come to Karachi and find out the reasons behind killing and who knows many be they are more intelligent, sharp and truthful people than our people to reach to the depth and tell us where lies the fault and who is killing and why. The present UN delegation which has been invited by Islamabad to make a detailed report about the missing persons can also be asked to stay back for another fortnight if not more to enlighten us accordingly about Karachi security situation though I do not have any personal interest in the UN delegation but being a Pakistani I do wish that no more blood be spilled over in Karachi, aameen.
