No Eid ul Azha in Karachi
Eid ul Azha is just one day away but in the given situation I doubt there is eid for Karachites this year though it is eid for all Muslims all over the world including my beloved home country Pakistan and I will support my statement by facts and figures.
Today (Thursday 25th Oct) also I have read in daily newspapers that many were killed and injured yesterday in Karachi whereas for quite many months and not weeks or days we have read that each day without any gap in between people are killed or injured in Karachi. Truly speaking it is very much doubtful if anyone precisely knows as to how many have been killed in Karachi alone since last haj was performed. People are killed for more than one reason and despite tall claims that killers will be killed and none will be allowed to take the life if others there is hardly any respite in killings. So many commissions, committees and enquiries have been instituted in this connection but still the ground realities could not change and it is very much doubtful that the things will be changed either. However, a rough guess is that the number runs into 4 figures in any case and then on the top of it the biggest number of casualties were witnessed when the garments factory caught a fire killing nearly 300 persons. Therefore just add up both the categories who have been killed and you will be shocked to death like me as to what has gone in Karachi in particular though people are killed at other places as well. I very honestly wish that none is killed today which a day before eid and tomorrow on eid day itself.
As per standard practice in a situation like this a family is not just father, mother and children rather even in-laws and aunts and uncles are included and construed to be a family and thus if someone dies then this enlarged family of the deceased do not celebrate eid for one year from the death date of their relative. This principle and practice is very much vogue in Karachi as well and hence there is no eid for the families of those Karachites who’s dear and near died during one year time.
I am sure none opposes me when I say no eidul azha for Karachites this year.
