Pretentions can be elusive too. Politicians all over the world know it too well.

Well, let us presume that Americans are the most cunning top animals today, ever ready to pounce upon those whom they consider as threats to their imperialist outrages. But people elected their president with a mandate to rule well. USA like many other terrocracies claims to be one of the largest democracies but it has just a convenient  two party system by which  only Republican  and Democratic parties  put forward their candidates for presidency and one of two gets elected.

World perhaps thinks that people of America elect their president directly. But that is not the case. The presidential election in the United States is an indirect one, which means that the citizens vote for 538 representatives of political parties known as electors who cast votes on their behalf. In order to win, a presidential candidate must get at least 270 electoral votes. If a candidate fails to get the majority of the vote, Congress elects the President and the Senate elects Vice-President under the terms of the 12 Amendment.

In case such an unlikely impasse occurs, the US Constitution empowers the House of Representatives to elect the president and the Senate to choose the vice president. The last time the US faced such a peculiar presidential end game was only in 1824, when no candidate was able to secure a majority of the Electoral College votes. In that race, the House elected John Quincy Adams as president over Andrew Jackson, despite the fact that Jackson garnered more electoral votes. This is not likely to repeat this time. None has so far predicted the outcome that way.

The race ahead of the US presidential election to the White House remained close between incumbent US President Barack Obama and his Republican challenger Mitt Romney till the end of the campaign. Many doubted that if the election ends in an actual tie which was a probability though a 269-269 tie in the Electoral College of 538 is highly unlikely. As it was expected that if Romney could win tightly contested races in the states of Iowa, Florida, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Ohio (which would be  a feasible achievement). And the contest could plausibly end in an Electoral College deadlock only if Obama were to win Colorado, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Throughout the campaign, Obama and Romney wee running neck and neck like filmy anti-heroes and the fascist media supporting each of them do promote their favourite. Republicans are expected to maintain their current majority in the House after election, while the Democrats are widely predicted to hold on to their Senate majority. Assuming each of these chambers of the US Congress votes along party lines, America could be looking at a divided administration.

Presidential poll is a routine affair though world takes keen interest in it. The spirit of American unilateralism and exceptionalism has derailed all ambitions of Americans. US presidents do not bother about the foreign policy challenges faced by the nation while continuing with and escalating terror wars indefinitely. This explains why America is on the decline

So, the US presidential election is not decided by the popular vote. Instead, each state gets a predetermined number of the 538 total electoral votes nationwide, and a candidate must capture 270 electoral votes to win the presidency.

Today no one would argue that the USA is no more the planet’s most powerful country. Many, however, see signs of an upcoming decline, in spite of all its advantages. But many boldly argue that the dictatorial America can no longer remain the world’s leader although it is not quite aware of this bad sign..

America has its permanent foreign policy interests and it resorts to all possible means to reach its goals. However, it has now failed on foreign policy front as it is evident from the ongoing WW- III. American political elite that is reluctant to admit that the US mechanisms of democracy are no longer effective and are outdated.

Since anti-humanity phenomena like imperialism and capitalism remain the central themes of both candidates and both defend these US policies, there is no fundamental difference between Obama and Romney!  Once in office, both will behave in similar manner as the Pentagon-CIA would dictate their job requirements. .

Who should be the new US president?
