1st wind power project-1st achievement of PPP
As an honest and true patriotic Pakistani it will be highly immoral on my part not to heartily and profusely congratulate PPP headed by President Asif Ali Zardari on establishing 1st wind power project in Pakistan which to me, if not annoying, is the very 1st achievement for PPP to be honest.
24th December, 2012 can be very rightly called as the golden day for the country as for the 1st time in the history of Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari inaugurated 1st wind power project in Jhimpir, Thatta district, Sindh which will be operational next month producing 50 MW which is just the beginning as some more suck like projects which are already in hand and likelt to be operational in due course of time. President commended the efforts of Fauji Fertilizer Company Energy Limited for undertaking such an important project which is very much needed by the country. President in his speech also praised the efforts of a Turkish company which is associated with the project. Zardari made special reference that Thatta which was once capital of civilization will immensely benefit from the extra energy so produced which in turn gives impetus to industrialization within the local area. He hoped and prayed that with the introduction of additional 50 MW more employment opportunities will be created for the local residents which in turn bring development and prosperity for the inhabitants of the area.
So far so good because at least something concrete has been done by PPP government to ease power shortage though 50 MW is very much insignificant so far as our total power requirement is concerned but nevertheless it is a right step in the right direction. However why did we take so many long years to embark upon the activity which is not our new invention in any case? Pakistan is facing acute power crisis for many long years and as such it must had been given top priority but alas we never gave it a serious thought and result is that our industries could not run to their full capacity because shortage of power. Reduction in working hours produced less which affected supply and demand and therefore some of the customers had to tap some other suppliers in other countries where power supply was not interrupted. There had been mass processions and demonstrations throughout the country from Karachi to Peshawar and from Gilgit to Quetta because of power shortage which still the more effected our industrial productions but regretfully PPP government were not diligent and efficient enough to find some quick answers and the situation had gone from bad to worse and worst. Hardly anyone knows how much our exports had been affected due to power crisis but still it can be said with full confidence and conviction that the loss had been in billions which can never ever be recovered and regained. It is our dead loss which is lost forever.
What stopped PPP which boasts of being the most popular political party of the country to embark upon such project earlier when it ruled the country many long years back when Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was on the driving seat or for that matter when Benazir Bhutto had been on the throne? Even Zardari is on the seat for almost 5 years time and this was not given any importance and priority. Needless to mention, wind which is main force behind the project is a free gift from nature which was available in abundance from day one and everyone knew that it is being used in many countries in general and Netherlands in particular to produce electricity so what deterred us not to go for it. Moreover, power shortage is being experienced for so many long years and hence its scarcity itself very well necessitated that some solutions must be sought to augments our sources and resources to at least minimize the shortage if not overcoming the same but one way or the other none took any serious steps otherwise we had not undergone so many crises, worst shortage of electricity in the history of Pakistan.
I wish and pray from the core of my heart that after scoring such landmark achievement PPP should not stop at this point of time rather it must go all out to explore all the different possibilities to steer Pakistan out of many sinking problems since none but PPP rules the country and none else can be asked to put Pakistan on road of advancement, progress and happiness than the one which occupies the throne. People have given vote to PPP for betterment of the people and the country and this is what ought to be delivered by Zaradri and his junta otherwise it will be nothing short of mocking at those who voted for PPP. Lastly, PPP very much wants to reign again for subsequent five years and there is nothing wrong in it but nevertheless it ought to strive to the best to lower the surmounting problems being faced by the people.
Heartiest congratulations for PPP which eventually took the initiative to produce electricity through wind which is not only easy to produce but cheap also and thus I am right and not wrong to say that 1 wind mill project in Pakistan is the 1st big achievement of PPP as well.
