Cooperative clash between
Russia and NATO
-DR. ABDUL RUFF COLACHAL
_______________
The so-called Cold
war may have ended long ago, but the real threat
to human survival from the US led NATO and
their never ending conflicts with arch enemy Russia have
not disappeared.
Sept-11 hoax brought a weakened
and demoralized Russia closer to USA and NATO close for the firs time in
decades and each tries to get maximum from the other.
For years now, since the
collapse of Soviet and communist system in East Europe, Russia has been
demanding on the Americans to dismantle the NATO as there is no
real threat to the West from communism now. But when USA and its European
allies rejected the suggestion outright, Russia began demanding a full
membership in NATO. West continues to reject the Moscow demand though NATO has
been using the Kremlin to support the NATO terror wars in Islamic world.
And Russia since the Sept-11
has been cooperating with NATO in Islamic world targeting Muslims so as to get
the NATO support in return for Russian attack on the Chechens who have been,
since the disintegration of Soviet Union 1991, Russia is not happy that
it could not divide the US-EU alliance on capitalist imperialism, though Moscow
is also following the footsteps of western capitalist system.
Yet, Russia resents US efforts
to make it part of NATO empire without assigning the veto power in
NATO that would indirectly restrain USA. Not just that. Washington doe
snot consider Russia equal to any of the major West European nations.
While the USA is deploying the
European component of its worldwide anti-missile shield, irritation from the
Russian side is building up, spilling their fight over to other
international issues.
Since 2011 the European missile
defense problem has been in the limelight during the Russia-EU summits. Moscow has continually insisted on legally binding
guarantees that US missile defenses based in European countries are not aimed
at the Kremlin, and that Russia would be allowed access to sensitive
aspects of the system. However, so far the Russian position has been pretty much
ignored, despite Moscow’s threats to take countermeasures and even to stop
cooperation with NATO on anti-defense in Europe altogether. USA and NATO
treats all threats from the Kremlin as being a usual bully to get some
favors from them.
At the
latest Brussels summit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and NATO
Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen discussed the Euro
missile shield issue once again and announced after the
negotiations that they are ready to search for solutions. They sides
noted the importance of the implementation of principles of genuine equality
and indivisible security proclaimed in the founding documents of the
Russia-NATO Council and approved by the chiefs of state.
It
appears, NATO could persuade Moscow to see reason
and play second fiddle for NATO to contain and end Islamic rise.
Since Russia is too
worried about Chechnya issue which remains a
major foreign policy issue of the Putin regime even since he
rose to power in Russia in 2000. Now it has to oblige the NATO,
failing which the NATO would support the Chechnya in
its struggle for freedom from the Kremlin. And hence thy
expressed their readiness to carry on the search for solutions to the missile
defense problem, to build up confidence and predictability in military
political affairs and to ensure the steady growth of cooperation in response to
common risks and security threats – terrorism, sea piracy, natural and man-made
catastrophes, as well as in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The
concept for a European missile defense shield was originally floated by the
Bush regime, which planned to base long-range missile interceptors in Poland,
smack on the Russian border, together with a sophisticated radar system in the
Czech Republic. Although US President Obama, upon entering
office seeking to reset the its Russian
ties, initially shelved the Bush program under pressure from Russia,
he then quickly announced a land- and sea-based system missile defense system
for Europe.
Hawkish
Bush, who floated the theory of rogue states in order to prepare for
military attacks on them, was in fact targeting both Russia and Iran as the
worst examples to prove his fanaticism , but due to updated
intelligence assessment that proved Iran’s missile capabilities were far less
than feared, He thought of a very cautious attitude to Russia.
The
European missile defense shield should be fully operational by 2018 and it
appears that the western terror alliance is willing to take the chance of
alienating Russia over the system, possibly even sparking some kind of arms
race in the region.
The
Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space believes that in
building a missile defense system on Russia’s doorstep, the USA is
not about defending Europe against “rogue states”:
Bush
wanted these machines be ground-based, put right into Poland and Romania, while
there are radars going into several places and then there would also be
sea-based. The USA is putting these missile defense systems on navy destroyers
that are going to be sent into the Mediterranean, into the Baltic, into the
Bering and Barents Seas.
So
clearly the US intention is to encircle Russia in as many ways as
possible so that it begins to fear America and NATO.
Similarly, like the
missile shield, the nuclear disarmament Russia finds the USA and
NATO are not serious to tackle the resolve the world's deadliest
problem humanity has been fearfully facing for quite some
time now.
USA (NATO) - Russia
collaborative conflicts, however, confuse the fearful humanity as it
is vulnerable to fall victims to their regular global mischief.
