Palestine: Will Netanyahu or Obama reinvent the peace
process? Part - III
-Dr. Abdul Ruff
__________
It seems Israel is willing for supporting a
Palestine state if it is established without military and police to protect the
Palestine land, vital infrastructures and people from enemy attacks, so that
Israel can control and attack it whenever it faces domestic crises or
elections.
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who
uses talks with Palestinians to prolong Zionist the occupational crimes in
Palestine, said that, he is still committed to the two-state solution, as means
to end the long-running Israeli-Palestinian conflict. “I want to reiterate my
commitment to peace,” Netanyahu told reporters, before his meeting with the
European Union (EU) foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini in Jerusalem, who
is on a two-day visit to the region. “We want a peace that would end the
conflict once and for all. My position has not changed. I don’t support a
one-state solution. I don’t believe that’s a solution at all. I support the
vision of two states for two peoples,” he said. Netanyahu reiterated that the
future Palestinian state must be demilitarized and recognize Israel as a Jewish
state. That is for the future but for
now the reality of establishment of
Palestine is important.
It is not for the first time that an Israeli leader
speaks about two-state solution and establishment of Palestine state. The Israeli hawkish leader said his government
would take some initiatives in the upcoming months, to ease restriction on the
Palestinian population, who live in territories Israel occupied in the 1967
Mideast War.
Nuclear Israel asks both USA and Europe to ensure
Israeli security first and above Palestine and other Arabs in Mideast.
Netanyahu has recently come under international
criticism for backtracking from his previous declaration of support for the
two-state solution. Days before the Mar 17 elections, he said in an interview
that he would not permit the creation of a Palestinian state under his watch.
Although she doubts Israeli commitments, Ms. Mogherini,
however, praised Netanyahu’s declared “commitment to peace and security” and
promised that the EU is willing to assist in renewing the peace negotiations
between Israel and the Palestinians. “The European Union is interested in peace
and security for Israel and the region, because it is also our European peace
and security, so we have a common interest there, to see if we have a space for
relaunching the vision you just mentioned of two states for two peoples, being
able to live in full respect on one side of the other,” she said.
Mogherini met with Palestinian President, Mahmoud
Abbas in the West Bank city of Ramallah earlier on May 21, will also meet with
Israeli President, Reuven Rivlin today.
Observers believe Netanyahu’s latest statements could
be the usual Zionist gimmicks to pacify the international community and get their support for Israeli crimes in
Palestine Gaza. Or, it could be that Israel is perhaps aiming to reassure the
international community of Israeli intention for a Palestine ocutnry, after
establishing a right-wing government a week ago, which includes the far-right
Jewish Home party backed by Jewish settlers.
Netanyahu and his Likud party did not specify in
their agreements with the coalition partners, any aspects of reviving the peace
talks and establishing a Palestinian state. Israeli media reported, Netanyahu
appointed Interior Minister Silvan Shalom, a veteran Likud member, as the
person in charge of the peace talks with the Palestinians. Funnily, Shalom has also
been known for his support of illegal Jewish settlement constructions inside
Palestine and objection to a Palestinian state
The last round of peace talks between Israel and
the Palestinians mediated by the United States and took place between July 2013
and Apr 2014, as usual collapsed owing to insincere attitude of Israel and its
commitment to expansionism and crimes in Palestine.
Since Washington objects to mediation in Mideast
conflict by Russia or Saudi Arabia or any other country, President Obama needs
to step in to push for Israeli consent for resolving the age old crisis towards
a permanent settlement and establishment of Palestine.
President Obama should also at the same time also
encourage Palestine to proceed with the UN route for full statehood for the
besieged Palestinians.
Enough of pampering a criminal Zionist state in
Mideast and end Israeli atrocities and military crimes in Palestine
Hopefully, Obama
would not skip the historic opportunity that has come to him in the name of
Palestine!
Humanity would not
forgive him if he chooses to let it pass!
Time running out
for President Obama!
