First Hindutva ministry in South India

Although Congress party is also pro-Hindu party functioning as a national party at All India level, it is BJP which is overtly identified as a clear pro-Hindu party with an ideology poisoned with slamming Islam and attacking Muslims  from platforms in a nasty manner and therefore taking all shorts on behalf of the saffron bandwagon.

Having won a simple majority in 224-member Karnataka assembly in recently held poll, the Bharatiya Janata Party's dream of forming its first government in South India will most probably become a reality on May 30. BJP with 115 MLAs had met Governor on 26 may night to submit letters of support and also conveyed to him that they had the required numbers in the 224-member house. The BJP's. BJP leaders who met in Bangalore on 27 fixed May 30 as the tentative date for B S Yeddyurappa's swearing-in as the chief minister of Karnataka. Sources at Raj Bhavan say that the required documents and letter recommending the revocation of President's rule and installing a popular government had already been sent across to the Union government.

The Indian Union Cabinet would have to meet, discuss the issue and forward its recommendation to the President following which President's rule would be revoked. Even as these procedures are underway, the BJP's core committee is currently meeting in Bangalore to discuss government formation and distribution of portfolios among the MLAs, including five independents.

Like in the north and central  India where BJP has ruled and collapsed with the positive credential of several members, like in any other party including Muslim League, have become a laughing sock in public. Public that voted for the BJP for its "character" soon found it an empty party in principles and realized that only money, muscle, crime and liquor play key roles in BJP too. Only anti-Islamism and hatred spread agaisnt Muslims have kept the party growing form state to state. Indian media, essentially anti-Muslim, have offered special support for BJP.

So BJP is all set to form the government in Karnataka. During its campaign it spoke at great lengths about wiping corruption, clean governance, development and strict implementation of the law. However, it would be interesting to note that the party has 18 legislators with a criminal record who have every chance of becoming a minister once the first independent BJP government in South India is sworn in.

The result of Karnataka Assembly poll is a reflection not only of non-BJP parties in the state, but also of the loss of credibility of the Congress party as well as the United Progressive Alliance government's performance at the Centre. Analysts say that the New Delhi's policies, particularly with regard to price rise and the crisis in agriculture sector has created resentment among the people who have rejected the Congress and chosen a communal party like BJP.

Core cadre of BJP that first originated in Delhi state came from Pakistan after partition and labored on anti-Islamism and anti-Pakistanism and even influenced the ruling Congress party to pursue anti-Muslim policies and pull down Babri Mosque, started spreading the poisonous Hindutva ideology across the nation and in South it has less influence but in Karnataka it has of late boosted its presence after its power base in nearby Goa.

It is interesting to note that the anti-Islamic BJP party has concentrated on the western ghat states of Arabian sea belt facing the Muslim nations in Arab word and Pakistan nearby.  BJP has very effectively used the Congress weakness for Hinduism as well as anti-Muslim mood of Hindus to foster its advancement every where in India and the result is the latest power capture in Karnataka. Ironically it was Congress party led then by Nehru who encouraged the BJP (then Jan Sangh) to take roots in New Delhi. Interestingly it is invariably Congress party rule that invariably let BJP to capture power for itself.
