IPL (Indian poll league) Scores: A commentary

By Dr. Abdul Ruff Colachal

Hyderabad team has won the battle for Delhi on May 22 and today's match is purely a formality for them to be the champions of 20/20 IPL. Indian poll league (IPL) has produced a hug national assembly and top runners are struggling to reach the "package" understandings with its coalition partners to stay in power. The package includes ministerial berths, sacs of money printed in Reserve bank of India and signing of some other “documents” to appease the partners and keep them in good, democratic humors. Poor voters! With IPL semi-finals are over the Indian cricket mafia, after they lost all hopes and their most favorite Mumbai India, Delhi devil, Punjab and Rajasthan teams, is now all out to make at least Bangalore win the final by employing all tricks including coercing Hyderabad team to "fall in line" and lose now. Whenever Hyderabad team played (for extra cash), the media-cum mafia worked actively against it by supporting and "canvassing for the opponents. Miracle happened when Hyderabad, against all odd as well their own unwillingness to win against Indian cricket mafia that controls the matches, reached the semis. Now it is in the finals to face Bangalore team, one of the weakest teams. Indians behave as if entire India has been demolished. Hyderabad is all set to make history today by thrashing Bangalore, now fielded by all cricket mafias, media and even the rest of the teams who dreamt of “clinching” the trophy just as blue Manmohan Singh has somehow managed in New Delhi to support multinationals and other big industrialists.

Hyderabad's resurgence is amazing; the mafia wants to pull it down because it tarnished the “image” of true India and Delhi, the hopes of the new regime. . Last year, they finished bottom with just two wins but with Adam Gilchrist leading from the front, they are transformed this season. Now they stand just one step away from the coveted IPL title. It was massacre at the Centurion on Friday as Adam Gilchrist shred Delhi Daredevils' bowling to pieces to lead Deccan Chargers to the final of the Indian Premier League.

During the semis, just like they did with the ball, Deccan Chargers were off to a fiery start with the bat too, as Adam Gilchrist started off with five boundaries in the opening over. The Deccan captain had led from the front and treated spectators to one of the most powerful innings - destructive for mafia - ever seen in Twenty20 cricket or in any format for that matter. The Powerplay overs when was a big gamble against the rampaging Gilchrist and the move fell flat on its face. The Aussie guy smashed Shewag him for a hat-trick of straight sixes.

Chasing a reasonable total of 153  of the top most bidder of IPL so far with 18 points to its kitty going waste,  Hyderabad team reached 154 (8.71 overs) and has clinched the semis by 6 wickets and 14 unused balls. Deccan had raced to 84 for one in six overs and now faced a relatively easy task ahead with 70 needed from the last 14 overs. With just 52 needed from the last 10 overs, Deccan were in cruise control courtesy Gilchrist's blinder.

Although Adam Gilchrest made the powerful innings in20/20, his team-mates could have pulled the team out of the race, if they played devastating game to help the cricket mafia. However, that did not happen all of them played for their team and supported Gilchrist and victory was Hyderabad’s. Delhi gave the impression at one point that it would cross 200 easily, but all collapsed by the spinned bowling of the Hyderabad team in about 153.

Adam Gilchrist who planned the semis with utmost care and accuracy,  didn't just blow the Delhi Daredevils out with a blitzkrieg but also backed up his vow at the end of a disappointing 2008 to give fans in Hyderabad more to cheer for in 2009. Gilchrist played a pivotal role in bringing last season's wooden spoon holders this far and tonight, in the cauldron of a semi-final, he treated Centurion to a stunning display of hitting. His assault on Delhi’s bewildered bowlers turned what threatened to be a tricky chase into a no-contest as Deccan chased down 154 with six wickets in hand and 14 balls to spare. Deccan have duly earned the right to be in Johannesburg today.

First, Delhi was fantastically restricted to 153 with 6 wickets later part of the match, then Gilchrist fired with his bat. Gilchrist looked like a man with a plan when, at the toss, he said Deccan would field and try and keep the opposition to an achievable target, many Indians though he was gong to play for his opponents as usual on clear “guidance” form the mafia lords. With teams not always chasing down totals in the vicinity of 160 easily under lights at Centurion, Deccan’s chase wasn't expected to be an easy one, but they did it. It took Gilchrist five deliveries to dismiss such thoughts. Dirk Nannes, one of the success stories of this IPL, was flayed for five consecutive boundaries in the first over, Gilchrist pulling, cutting and driving with power. Right form the beginning of Hyderabad innings; it appeared they would certainly throw Delhi out of the 20/20, though one was not quite sure if Hyderabad guys would surrender rot the pressure form the mafia.

It was the Gilchrist of old, the man who put the fear of God in bowlers the world over. In three overs Deccan were 41 for 1 with Herschelle Gibbs for a duck and Gilchrist's innings as he made the semi-final his own. Gilchrist drove a no-ball for four and drilled the free hit for a straight six to raise Deccan’s fifty in 23 deliveries - his contribution being 48 from 14 balls. His half-century needed just 17 balls, the fastest of the IPL. Virender Sehwag came on for the first and last time in the tournament, with Gilchrist plundering three successive sixes in a 25-run over. Matters had veered to and fro throughout the first half of the match but Deccan's reining Delhi in to 153 ultimately proved decisive. Sehwag and his boys did all possible miracles, but Gilchrest and his boys reached the finals to clinch it.

Gilchrist's praises have been sung in this tournament - he came into the game leading their run list - and again he deserved no less than a chorus. After a maiden first over, Delhi scored 83 in nine. Runs came thick and fast and Gilchrist turned back to Symonds, who finally broke an 85-run alliance with a straighter one that India mafia needlessly tried to paddle. Sehwag would have been pleased with 153 after Delhi were 0 for 2 but that was before Gilchrist stepped up. Delhi have now been thrashed in consecutive IPL semi-finals after dominating the league stages.

Some media portals have deleted the cricket news from its “exposure’ out of sheer frustration, because they all thought Delhi would some how manage, rather, would be helped  to become the champions some how, since Mumbai true Indians are gone. Even though Indian political league (IPL) resulted in a some what expected fractured verdict favoring the Nehru Congress dynasty, the new regime under Manmohan Team has just after resuming innings, Delhi devils have been badly crushed and thrown out of the finale match. The most unexpected of things has happened in cricket IPL as Delhi devils have been smashed by the Hyderabad Deccan Team, a team Indian media and bulk of Indians tried to underplay and made nasty comments, including the post-paid cricket commentators.

Obviously, with Chennai gone, Hyderabad Deccan can easily deal with a weak team Bangalore today on 24 May 2009. Hopefully, Gilchrest and his boys – also the team billionaire owner Deccan Chronicle which is controlled by New Delhi’s new regime, wound not try to sabotage the aspirations of Hyderabadis and other Indians who appreciate the hard earnings of Hyderabad team and don’t want the success to be squandered by now by any manners.  Of course Hyderabad's final victory is already forecast no matter Bangalore or Chennai played, after all Delhi devils have been thrashed very badly once by Hyderabad that is to enter the finals. Hope, Indian cricket mafia hears it - the Gilchrest boys as well! Adam Gilchrest and his boys should not play for Bangalore team even by mistake, but only for Hyderabad Deccan.
