16th December: Fall of Dacca the Worst Day in Pakistan’s History
Dr. Anwar Ul Haque
16th December must be observed as a black day in Pakistan. All organizations must hold a soul-searching day to find our deficiencies and faults and take appropriate corrective actions. The way I see Fall of Dacca in 2009 is as follows:
- We have not learnt any lesson from our past mistakes… a real idiotic behavior
- The conditions are the same or worse … need to take immediate actions e.g. court martial of Gen. Musharraf
- No planning then, no planning now
- No respect for merit then, no respect for merit now
- No accountability then, some accountability now, ray of hope
- Let us as a nation stand up for Justice and merit. Punish every criminal and bring back all looted wealth and spend that wealth on the poor people of Pakistan
- We had carried out a detailed inquiry into the causes of this great tragedy and failure under the name of Hamoodur Rehman Commission. It was shamefully kept secret and no action of any significance taken.
- Time has come to highlight our acts of commissions and omissions. Only after recognizing and admitting, we can walk on the path of correction and improvement as Surah Ash-Shams of Quran-e-Majeed tells us: "Indeed one who purifies himself, succeeds and one who doesn't care perish".
- Upholdig Justice and merit in every sphere of life is the order of Allah Ta'lah. With tihis Quranic and Islamic practice we will solve our numerous problems. Let us hold tight the rope of Allah and come out of this well disgrace in record short period of time.
- Join the Movement for Justice & Merit (MJM), a non “political” movement for improvement of Pakistan and then the world.
