Slain Hamad Raza was a Quaidian: No Shades of Black

KAZA KA HOSH AANA, ZINDAGI KA DARDE SAR JANA

It was 1993 I were entering in Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, with high hopes, dreams and nostalgia. In any social science subject, getting admission in QAU is still a trance of every one, so was mine. Covered in Margilla Hills, close to diplomatic enclave and under the shadow of Bari Imam the university was not a " police Station" s it is today.

We were not aware of the bitterness of professional demands of the degree in future and in romance with Bano Qudsia's stories and Qurat-ul-Ain Haider's novels, we jumped in the department of History, which can only produce mediocre schools and college teachers, who
can only taught distorted and wrong written history. I am sorry for this bitter comment but it is fact.

When we were entering at the same time a batch was passing out (whom we call grand senior) and Hamad Raza was among those intelligent buddies who were saying good-buy to International Department for their MSC degree, after having excellent teachers like Dr Muhammad Waseem and others.

We often met and discussed many things he was close to my lovely friend Mir Wahid Talpur. Who was doing M Phil form the same department, IR. Though he jumped in to a carrier of conventional bureaucratic mindset but the artists of his self was alive to the last moments of his life.

When we all passed out few of us wee knowing each other's whereabouts. And I was shocked when I heard the news of his "Target Killing". He was a good writer. The News Pindi's senior reporter Ansar Abassi wrote a story in the News on Wednesday that He wanted to retired from job with another ShuhabNama (a best seller written by Qudratullah Shuhab).

It is very painful to hear these kinds of news, when honest, young, dynamic and intelligent people, who are our future leadership, die they leave a great vacuum to get filled after a long long time. He was made victim of Politics if intrigues and conspiracies"

His picture published in a Sindhi Newspaper with his spouse and kids pushed me back to the memories of our student life days in QAU. I can still feel his humble walking style, soft talk and modest handshake. We will be missing him.

May God give him a pace in his favorite room and passions to rest of the family to bear untimely and unforgettable loss.

Reply:   Why was Hamad Raza Murdered?s

A news item appeared in a section of the press, that Mr Raza had been subjected to "third degree" by intelligence agencies after the suspension of the chief justice to extract evidence

As reported by Dawn, the Supreme Court on Tuesday appointed two senior judges to supervise investigations by police and other agencies into the murder of apex court's additional registrar Syed Hammad Amjad Raza.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz also ordered a judicial inquiry into the murder of Mr Raza and directed the Ministry of Interior and the Islamabad police to make all-out efforts to bring the culprits to book.

The additional registrar was shot dead by four men who broke into his house before dawn on Monday. Though police claimed that the murder had been committed by robbers, Mr Raza's wife, who witnessed the killing, said it was a target killing in which the government and agencies were involved.

A news item appeared in a section of the press, that Mr Raza had been subjected to "third degree" by intelligence agencies after the suspension of the chief justice to extract evidence and make him stand in the witness box against the chief justice.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Interior has rejected the impression that the murder of Mr Raza was a target killing and said preliminary investigations have revealed that it was an incident of robbery. He, however, said the scope of investigations has been enlarged by obtaining finger prints and taking sniffer
dogs to the crime scene.

Comments: The possibility of target killing cannot be ruled out as easily
as indicated by the police.  There are  rumors that Hamad Rez a knew
the elements  who wanted to create political unrest to topple Mushrrf's Government by causing judicial crisis.  After all there have  been attempts
on the lives of PM as well as the President. MQM's  cries  that there
was a conspiracy to engulf Karachi in ethnic riots on 12th May
should be taken seriously. The fears of another martial laws were
expressed by Pir Pagara also.
