Nobel Prize & Obama's real peace moves

Dr. Abdul Ruff Colachal

One does not know why the selection of US President Barack Obama for 2009 Nobel Peace became an issue of controversy causing so much of debate. The anti-Obama critics slam the Nobel committee for awarding Peace Prize prematurely without seeing any tangible results from Obama as US president. Nobel is not an End by itself, but only the Beginning for Obama's real peace moves the world is looking forward.

Many among those who had nominated their own "special" candidates for Nobel prizes are thunder struck as President Obama overran all stalwarts for the Nobel. India, its media and senior capitalists who spend millions for awards for Hindus or those who are even remotely connected to India in some way are annoyed that their cash has been unduly wasted with Obama clinching the coveted prize at India’s cost, while Pakistani media are unhappy that Zardari or Musharraf or one of their media nominees is not awarded Nobel peace prize for killing Muslims ruthlessly under NATO banner to let them enter the permanent peace zone. India military commander in occupied Jammu Kashmir could have got the Nobel if there were one for state terrorisms. Funny, both are now questioning the logic in making the US president the honoured Nobel laureate.

India clams a sumptuous share in global resources by its fundamental right as a 'functioning democracy", including awards and prizes in all spheres, at par with western terror democracies occupying Islamic nations by terror means, its agents , including the billionaires, demand it officially and other wise, depending on the circumstances. Mischievous premier Manmohan has not yet lost hopes of an award, as do his capitalist promoters in India and USA, for doing or not doing what is told by Indian big businessmen. Pakistani media feel sympathised to India's Nobel cause. have at long last found a common language now with India, thanks to joint state terrorisms in Afghanistan and Pakistan. After all, International state terrorisms have a common language and many features. Hopefully, both would not jointly attack innocent Kashmiris eventually.

President Obama deserves the Nobel Peace the most today as he could dismantle all hidden agendas of the Bushdom rogues and their global allies, Pentagon-Mossad-Raw etc by ignoring all signs for intensifying terror wars in Islamic world. The Bushdom rogues had laid the foundations for the future presidents to continue the terror wars irrespective of which of the two political outfits manage the presidency. If not anything else, Obama was awarded the prize for his ideas and for pushing the Pentagon rogues to back benches as first step for future peace moves.

President Obama has been trying to balance between his peace ideals and the elements of actual presidential policy that actually run counter to his stated agenda. The fascist regime in Israel stopped the terror killings of Palestinians as it began getting red signals from the Obama’s White House even before he assumed the Oval power, while right at the beginning for his tenure Tel-Aviv got mild warnings about its terror excesses in Palestine. Israeli government spared Obama the embarrassment of having to endorse its aggression in Gaza by ending the war just before the new president’s inauguration. Zionist regime felt the heat under its heels even before Obama took office. And now, Obama’s instructions for Israel to freeze illegal settlements as the first step towards negotiations for Mideast peace are being closely studies by Tel Aviv Mossad strategists. .

Israeli holocaust is a well-documented cluster crime against humanity. The authoritative investigative report authored by Judge Richard Goldstone for the United Nations has rightly indicted the Israeli terror military and fascist political leadership that committed horrid war crimes especially in Palestine in Dec-Jan, unmindful of vociferous outcries of international community. Obama’s arrival somehow forced the terror regime in Tel-Aviv to stop its terror adventure among the innocent Palestinians, now under continued siege from all sides by rogue states. Obama's handling of Israel definitely helped the peace process. Many now think he made other good moves as well, though one has to keep in mind though that these happened after the nomination deadline.

Obviously, as he said time and again his main priority is the well being of Americans. He clearly sees the great divide in American society where the Republicans, Neocons, CIA-Pentagon-Mossad etc and even some core Democrats influence the people’s psych waiting in wings to slam his policies even if that leads to civil war situation in the USA. And as such, Obama as President has to go move extremely cautiously and hence the possible slow move.  His delay creates the impression that his wavering unable to push through his peace agenda. But that aside, Obama also (1) - increased the defense budget of a military that already spends more than all the other countries in the world combined and during the world's greatest economic hardship in 70 years. (2) - increased America's military involvement in the largest (?) current war in the world (Afghanistan). (3) - and failed to close Gitmo torture camp in Latin America even though he expressly promised to do so. These do not sound like the actions of a man of peace to many see through actions to verify the seriousness of rhetoric. President Obama must streamline his actions to make the world read his real mind without hassles. If he reverses the above three points then, many would then support the Nobel Committee and they would be 100% in favor of Obama winning the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize as well.

Not many would suspect Obama’s intentions and his longing for putting them into practice in Mideast and elsewhere. Like President Obama, Abraham Lincoln also shared the same Ideals of peace as well as Alfred Nobel after witnessing the war devastations. Hopefully, US president would chart his peace course in a way world sees through his fore vision sufficiently clearly and correlate to his actions. Obama would now be better placed as he has gained domestic bargaining power as well as a dominant voice of peace arbitrator for all regional clashes, especially in Mideast and South Asia. But now the goal of establishment of Palestine state has to be his prime objective, because resolution of this calamity by fascism would lead to the resolution of all other vexed, chronic regional issues.

President Obama has to reinvigorate his efforts to materialize the global peace ideals he cherishes to ensure credible peace in the world.  President Obama cannot afford to let the Israeli fascists dictate terms to Washington through its powerful lobbies. He has to strive sternly to wipe out Islamophobia created so systematically by the anti-Islamic global media to terrorize Muslims and kill them as terrorists. That would let the world breathe fresh air.
