Stop Balochistan from Burning! By Dr. Abdul Ruff Colachal

Even as Swat issue is yet to see the results, now Balochistan is also burning with murder of some more Muslims, thereby reducing, as per the scheming of anti-Islamic forces, the global Muslim population in a sustained manner. None around the world cries for the lose of lives in Pakistan. Murders have become a routine mater inside Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq, committed by the occupying terror forces with help form other anti-Islamic nations. Violence erupted in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan following the recovery of mutilated bodies of three Baloch leaders in Turbat who were the members of the Qaum Dost Committee formed to probe the case of the missing persons. The ghastly incident came amidst joint efforts by the government and nationalist leaders to bring peace to Balochistan. President Asif Zardari after the coming to power of the PPP government offered apology to the people of Balochistan for the injustice meted to them during the last regime’s tenure. Recently during President Zardari’s visit to Quetta, there were bright chances that peace will be restored, but this incident has dashed the hopes of the people who were expecting a new chapter of peace and tranquility in the province.

One wonders who exactly is operating through some forces to derail any peace efforts in Pakistan disallowing it to return to normalcy and move forward to put in practice Islamc Sharia’ that will ensure drastic changes in the lives of people with all welfare measures for common folk. Don’t Muslims want prosperity and equal justice? Why should they play into the hands of the anti-Islamic forces then? Pakistan has to end the Us-led terror war inside the country.

The Baloch people have been fighting for their rights through political and constitutional means for nearly three decades after the military action of the 1970s. The federal government has been forced to consider the question of provincial autonomy and equitable distribution of resources only when the Baloch struggle for rights took a violent turn. It seems some of those fighting for genuine rights were handed over to the US without conducting a trial and the Pentagon-CIA gang, having created secret torture cells around the world, does not believe in trials. The major hurdle in the way of making any progress towards a peaceful resolution of the Balochistan conflict is not only the lack of political will, but also the nasty practice of fueling the turmoil in Pakistan by outside agencies, both across the borders and far off.

President Zardari has seems to be firm about what he wants and one hopes Pakistanis would benefit from his administration. Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has termed the killing an attempt to sabotage the process of reconciliation. Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Khan Raisani has formed a tribunal of high court judges for investigating the incident. Even the UN has expressed concern over the death of three Baloch leaders. Determined to ensure stability, peace and prosperity to the country, Pakistan government has still to be firm about its peace-cum-Islamization goal and should not let the chance slip into failures once again, letting the enemies of Islam to take control of domesitc affairs.
