Life paralyzed at will

For almost 22 hours have and life was awfully fully paralyzed in Karachi and Hyderabad in particular and Mirpur Khas in general and very much surprisingly none knows how it could happen alike. It is reported that on Friday evening some unknown and unidentified people fired some stray gun shots not to kill someone but instead frighten all whereby people started running back to their homes. Some shopkeepers were contacted through landline and mobile telephones and they were advised in their own interests to shut their business within half an hour otherwise they themselves will be responsible to face the consequences which could be very much detrimental to their interests. In some localities even the street lights were put off so it was complete dark pitch which as such became still the more awful and frightening. The funniest part is that none knows as to who is on the front leading this frightening move or who is pulling the strings behind the curtain. Police and Rangers are just keeping their mouths shut so none knows as to who could motivate the general public and why life has come to stand still.

The scene was so awful that people were scared eventually to death and preferred to remain inside their houses so that their lives are not exposed to any danger. Public transport had been off the routes so the commuters faced hell to reach to their place of duty. Attendance in offices both in public and privates sector remained very thin as people did not leave their houses. Karachi University had to even cancel its final examination simply because hardly few students could come to the university while Karachi Bar Association too had to cancel its election scheduled on Saturday. Main highways, roads and streets were deserted and hardly any soul could be seen be it commercial area or a residential colony though Karachi is the most populated city of the country which has gained cosmopolitan stats amongst the major cities of the world but yet Karachites could not dare to endanger their lives at their own sweet will.

However, in late evening we saw that generally speaking Karachi started coming back to life and people could be seen on the streets though not so much as it is each day but still the gloom was shattered if not completely wiped off. Shops which were forced to close down also started opening and those who needed to buy but could not came to the shops for necessary shopping. Public transport too resumed operating and one could see all type of commuters including men, women and children riding on buses and wagons. Petrol pumps also were opened so long queues could be seen at each outlet for all those who wanted fuel to keep on running on roads.

Neither the government be central or provincial nor any political party asked for paralyzing the life in Karachi nor the two asked for resumption of normalcy so the question is as to how the whole city was once deserted and then brought back to life. Who could be the force to act alike? Didn’t devil do it so?
