THE UNREALISTIC PROMPTITUDE IN CONDEMNING UNHEARD THE WELFARE ORGANISATIONS IN PAKISTAN

Being a student of Law, I consider every person, organisation, institution, Country etc. innocent until he is properly prosecuted in the Court of law under a proper procedure and convicted of a crime.

It is not amazing or extraordinary act of the U.N. Security Council in taking action unilaterally against any person or institution. The astonishing feature of the matter is the equal promptitude of Pakistani Government in closing the offices of an organisation. The action was taken so speedily as if the Government of Pakistan was either expecting or awaiting the Resolution from the Security Council. Neither the Government nor the Foreign Office thought for a moment that taking action in so haste might confirm the suspicion of the Countries into conviction that Pakistan was doing all this but wanted to have so licence/warrant from the U.N.O in legalizing action against the organisation. It was necessary for the Government to present the case afresh.

My point of view needs to be comprehended. If India or any Country had any grievance from any organisation in Pakistan, the proper course was to cogent evidence, proper trial. In the absence of any evidence and trial how a person can be declared terrorist. Today, the Security Council declared an organisation as terrorist in Pakistan. If tomorrow, the Zardari Government was declared terrorist or illegal then the same promptitude would be shown in resigning from the posts and going to the UNO jails (if they were established for the purpose).

If the Musharraf's regime was rendered unpopular by attacking its own people and military action, the Zardari Government might face the opposition for acting hastily on UN resolution. Why our Government is so apologetic on this matter. The right course was to present the case of the Kashmiri people who are struggling for the last twenty years and their right of self-determination has been denied. Why?

I show sympathy both with the victims of the Mumbai attacks and the people of Kashmir. I make no discrimination in them but when the five big bosses of the world sit and decide unilaterally in favour of one and against the other, it shocks me. Once again, I shall declare Musharraf responsible for it; would he have not issued N.R.O no such people would have come to power. It is very strange that the UN has so far ignored not only the wishes of the people of Kashmir but also struggle of the Kashmir Committee of the Parliament. (The Parliament of Pakistan should show its supremacy to the UN).

The five big bosses should not consider Pakistan as either Iraq or Afghanistan. It is an atomic power and should decide after hundreds and thousands times thinking over an issue regarding it. The Government of Pakistan should not be docile to toe the line of every instruction from abroad. Musharraf fulfilled every desire of the West but finally he was also asked to do more, showing to him that he was not acting fully on the instructions.

The whole situation is before the Pakistani Intelligentsia. No one can bear the subversive activities from any person or organisation but it is equally unbearable that on simple accusation, a person or organisation can be termed "˜terrorist', "˜anti-social', "˜anti-state' etc. It is similar to hanging a person to death on the FIR of another person without bringing him to the Court and properly giving him an opportunity to clarify his position.

I do not know what the Government of Pakistan, Army and other influential are thinking about this situation. I want the unity of Nation is must otherwise, the UN may demand tomorrow to hand over the Atomic Installations to a third country and to disband the army for dismantling the atmosphere of war between the two countries.
