There are no two opinions about the attempt on the life of Hamid Mir under the fly over bridge near Karachi airport on Saturday 19th April being one of the most heinous crimes and must by condemned by all to the utmost. However, the haste with which the ISI and its Chief have been blamed by the family and the media in general for it is a little surprising. AND, if it was done by them then I dem

“Army respects all other institutions of the state and expects them to respect it also”, was a simple and straight forward remark made by the COAS Gen. Raheel Sharif while visiting a Pak army commando unit near Terbela. Somehow it has created a furore totally unwarranted in certain quarters especially the electronic media who is blowing it hot and cold and quite out of proportion projecting it not

It was quite heartening to watch over a private TV channel transporters of Hafizabad thrashing a Police traffic ASI left and right who had booked one of them allegedly for not paying him the illegal gratification. Well done the transporters for standing up for your rights. It is sincerely hoped that the Hafizabad Police will not take any reprisal and retaliatory action against the transporters on

Ever since 1.5 billions were given by a ’friendly’ country and the high profile kings and monarchs of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain started visiting Pakistan the rumourmills in the country have gone head over heels in churning out all kinds of tell tale stories, gossips and speculations – some too dangerous to be realized by them in their sheer naivety and ignorance of the gravity of the matter. And th

Whereas almost all jurists, learned scholars, most ulema, mushaikh and muftis, politico religious parties and the parliamentarians are of the view that the Constitution of Pakistan is in conformity to the Islamic Shariah and that there is no law in it which is repugnant to Qura’n or Sunnah, a very few clerics and some Taliban type mullahs not numbering even one percent of the population think it t

“I say with full responsibility that Islamabad is a safe and secure city”, so declared the Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan in a press conference and ironically, only three days later the terrorists devastated his hollow claim by striking at the District Courts Complex Islamabad killing at least 11 people, including an Additional Sessions Judge Rafaqat Ahmed Awan and a 25 year old young lady l

According to a news report after the Chairman CDA removed the old Director Parliament Lodges - probably on account of MNA Dasti’s allegation - the newly appointed Director Parliament Lodges politely declined to assume the charge. That reminds me of an incidence of about two decades ago – or may be even more. I was going to Rawalpindi from Islamabad in my car and spotted a gentle
