An expensive necklace with sentimental values attached being her wedding gift was donated by the Turkish First Lady Madam Tayyip Erdogan for the flood-hit people of Pakistan in 2010. The necklace had gone missing and has been traced to be in the possession of the former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani. According to the report, Gilani said he had close ties with the Erdogan family and Mrs Erdoga Click here to read Full Article

Zardari’s Outburst by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Emotions seem to have gotten the better of the former President Asif Ali Zardari who is generally known for keeping his cool under the trying circumstances. Rangers’ raid on the Karachi Civic Centre has probably tolled the bell for some looming danger that has un-nerved him to the point of his outright waging war on the army and its higher command. This is the most unfortunate thing to happen. If Click here to read Full Article
Azaan in Ramazan by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

As the holy month of Ramazan is about to set in, I hope the highly commendable decision of May 1, 2015 of calling out Azaan simultaneously from all mosques in the federal capital would be implemented in letter and spirit and the Iftar would be held at the same time by all. Let me assure the Shias that no sky will fall if they broke the fast two or three minutes earlier and by the same token no h Click here to read Full Article

Hangings Suspended in Ramazan by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

TV tickers showed prominently that the PM had ordered suspension of the hanging of the condemned prisoners during the holy month of Ramadan. Though a highly considerate gesture yet, sound like a monarchial decree on his part. Does the constitution empower him to order so? I don’t know and hope it does. But if doesn’t, should it not have been more appropriate for the Head of the State to have Click here to read Full Article

Both Sherry Rehman and Qamar Zaman Kaira, who should have known better, cut a sorry figure and looked pathetic in trying to convince the seasoned journalists that the AAZ in his address of June 16th had referred to the generals and the dictators of the past, and not the present military leadership for whom he had great respect. Even a primary school child would know Click here to read Full Article

The diesel could have come either by boat or land the routes for which both are well guarded. The Safora tragedy was simply horrendous and there are no two opinions about it. Such wanton killing of the innocent MUST stop. While none else than the state itself is responsible for the safety of life and property of its people, can’t we ourselves as a potential someday possible victims do something about it? For how long we shall keep lamenting about, giving statements and promising without ac Click here to read Full Article

The copter crash carrying the foreign envoys and their lady wives to Neltar for the opening ceremony of an event there and which would have been a memorable one for them most tragically turned out to be one of the gloomiest days in our history. Seven died that included two envoys and two lady wives of the other two envoys. Ten were reported injured and burnt some seriously. Prime Minister Mian Naw Click here to read Full Article
