The new Prime Minister of United Kingdom David Cameron, from the Conservative Party, has named 39-year old, Baroness Sayeeda Warsi of Dewsbury whose family belong to Gujjar Khan, Pakistan, as a Minister in UK Cabinet and as Chair Person of the Conservative Party.
This is first time in the history of UK that a Muslim Women belongs to Pakistan is leading their party. No doubt this is very honor for Pakistan.
Saeeda Warsi is Hafiz-e-Quran and Warsi in her name shows her love with Peer Waris Shah, Saeeda Warsi said that she feels very proud to be a daughter of person who used to work in Factory and later on her father started furniture business and become a business man, She said that she idealized her father.
She said that she live in UK but her heart is in Pakistan, she used to visit Pakistan every year and also started an NGO named Skill in her City Gujjar Khan, that NGO gives FREE education to poor girls of that region.
She is the first women of Pakistani origin to hold a UK cabnet position but she is not the first Pakistani to hold a UK cabinet position, she is certainly the highest profile Pakistani to do so. In past Sadiq Khan first Pakistani and Muslim had earned the distinction in a U.K. cabinet as Gordon Brown’s Minister of State for Transport. Earlier, Shahid Malik – who had defeated her for her hometown Dewsbury, Yorkshire, sear in 2005 – was selected in 2007 as Gordon Brown’s under-secretary of state for international development (which, although not a cabinet position, is a significant and high position in the UK government. Although never elected to office by a direct vote, Lady Warsi is a Life Peer in 2007.
