We shout slogans with cheers that, our leader is emanicipator and now our fortune is going to change. Politicians and Beurecraciy have drew benifits out of such national psyche. You can imagine the fact , when you will read a project, that is aimed to changed the lives of People. Its name is: SINDH RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT (SRDP) The project is in progress since three years, There are three offices in Karachi and four offices in filed, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Thata and Badin. There is no work, only they have appointed a batalion of consultants and purchased vehicles.After passing its 1/4th tennure, now they determined June 2009 the SRDP project will:
1. Increase income of the rural poor in the project area. In absolute terms, the income of Income of 22,000 rural poor households will have increased by 21-29%
2. Improve the social status of rural poor in the project area. In absolute terms, 3200 village groups perceive their well-being as improved The project will have have tangible, immediate and sustainable impact on rural livelihoods in four districts of Sindh Province. Target groups of SRDP in these districts represent approximately 30% of landless Haris, small landholders and village artisans of Sidh Province. The total capital cost of the project is Rs. 3.754 bn. Specific outcomes of the project include:
• A total of 96000 (12%) households will benefit from the project. • Income of 22,000 households to be increased by 21-29%. • 24 para legals to be trained for advice on legal issues. • 575 revenue officials to be trained. • 300 persons to be trained in participatory extension approaches. • 300 village based livestock workers to be trained and kits distributed. • 96,000 target group members to receive literacy training. • 48,000 females to be trained in livestock management through 1600 workshops/refresher courses. • 48,000 farmers to be exposed to agricultural training. • 32,000 Haris and agricultural laborers will be linked to formal credit (40% will be women).
