Karachi saw the lowest turn out in the recent elections. Many believe that less than 10% people cast their votes. But the winners got over 80 of the total registered votes! Amazing! Massive rigging; at times at gun point was carried out by MQM. A video tape was prepared and shown by a private TV with the title "Gumnam" clearly showing the incidences of these riggings right in the polling booths. MQM in reality didn't get even 5% votes. These illegal and terrorist acts nullify the Elections in Karachi and on some seats in Hyderabad. Last time MQM with massive rigging "won" the city Government and Nazim Karachi seat. Before that in Liaqatabad Karachi, MQM killed representatives of various political parties in the election booths and stole the ballot boxes, filled with rigged votes and announced victory of their candidates. The Election Commissioner Justice (Rtd.) Irshad Hussain declared the elections null and void. However MQM approached Pervaiz Musharraf who send Justice Irshad on leave and appointed Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar who accepted the MQM bogus results and declared its candidate winner. Later Musharraf after taking the entire judiciary hostage appointed Dogar as "Chief Jusitce".
Since no real elections took place, we request all parties to demand for re-election in Karachi and on a few seats in Hyderabad where massive rigging took place. We ask Election Commission to take not e of this and must not say that no complaint for rigging had been received. Since MQM has no mandate of people and since it is a known terrorist organization, it must not be included in the new Government. Mr. Altaf is as usual bullshitting from London and issuing threats through his often telephonic non sense, we are fully capable to teach him and his Ghunda MQM a befitting lesson. We request Pakistan army to stop backing MQM, the terrorists. People of Karachi will Insha Allah able to tackle MQM appropriately once military support to MQM is vanished.

Dear All,
SAC is working on a exposing rigging in these elections. SAC teams covered 14 polling stations in various constituencies and are compiling a report on the rigging that took place during the elections. I would like to give an open call to everyone who has seen irregularities at the polling stations especially if you have noticed any of the following:
- non registered voters/underage voting
- instances of manipulation of ballots
- forging of the voter lists
- threats and harassments of polling agents, etc.
- firings and other violence that you saw/hear on the news.
Please send a detailed account along with details of the polling station and constituency to
sac.lahore@gmail.com . Any evidence, such as photographs, videos or witness testimony will add further credibility to our report and we would request everyone to send in as much information exposing rigging as possible.
Also find the details of the alternate polling station SAC established in Lahore.
In solidarity,
Samad

SAC MEMBERS EXPOSE MASS RIGGING. REPORT TO BE RELEASED SHORTLY
Students expose massive rigging 19 students from the student action committee
visited 14 polling stations in various constituencies. They uncovered
massive riggings in most of these polling stations. Some of teh most common
forms were altered voters list. Reportedly new lists were issued the night
before, and hence the parties booths had voters lists different to those
within the polling stations. Dozens of opposition party supporters were
excluded from these new altered lists and hence were simply unable to vote.
We also found instances of duplicate votes, where teh actual voter was
turned away due to a vote already being cast. There were many incidences of
coerced and bought votes by the establishment party. Most of these incidences
were caught on camera or recorded on audio, including eye-witness accounts
and victim's testimonies.
SAC will be releasing a detailed report shortly.

Alternate polling station set up by SAC
A very volatile election day was observed in the city of Lahore. A canidate was assassinated, poll booths observed firing and the Students Action Committee faced their usual tussels with the police to hold peaceful non threatening activities.
Early morning, members of the SAC (lahore) set up a referendum polling booth outside the highcourt, near the site of the suicide bomb blast that killed over a dozen police officers.
The question on the referendum polling slip was 'Is Musharraf's presidency legitimate?', with the option to answer with a yes or no.
The polling booth was an instant success and attracted many people from all walks of life.
SAC were peacefully conducting the polls without disturbing the public peace. Yet, two police vans came with strong ditectives to 'disperse' the protests, which they were informed of by the election commission.
The next venue the SAC took to was the press club. However, that was unsuited as well and the booth was moved once again to the highcourt.
As soon as the SAC members re-assembled, the police reached and tried to remove the students by threats of arrest. A lawyer assisting the SAC, however negotiated and earned the booth a place infront of St Anthony's church, facing the mall.
Once settled there, the referendum polling booth became a soaring success.
Students and activists performed in street theatre skits parallel to the referendum. Audiences surrounded the actors as they enacted the helpless poor being ignored by a personal agenda driven society.
By the end of the day 812 people voted. 96% of the people voted 'no', Musharraf's presidency is not legitimate.
There was one returning officer and two polling officers presiding over the pols.
There were two transparent ballot boxes, one for 'yes' votes and one for 'no' votes.
All the people who voted were supervised by SAC members, who spent hours ensuring free and fair polls.
