Cricket was called a gentlemen’s game. So much so anything improper was proverbially equated as not being “cricket”. In the days gone by I remember an Indian outfielder making an outstretched catch at the ropes and the umpire having had raised his finger, but the Indian player shook his head that one of his feet was touching the rope when caught the ball and thus the Pakistani batsman was awarded Click here to read Full Article

The Senate has rekindled a waning faint hope of the old pensioners by passing a resolution unanimously to increase the pension of the old retired government servants in accordance with the increase in prices prevailing in the country. How much increase would there be has not been specified and left to the financial pundits to work it out. While the increase is ye Click here to read Full Article

Now that nearly 8 million animals – some costing a million and more – have been sacrificed in Pakistan, I wonder why the Qurbani at that scale is not performed in most other Muslim countries, in some not at all. Of course during Hajj it is a must but is it also mandatory (Farz, Wajab) for the Muslims at places other than Hajj? I think not, because we all call it a Sunnat e Ibrahimi. A sunnat. All 769 bodies cannot be personified in any case simply because in such like stampede all those who died may not necessarily be found with personal identification since no country including Saudia has ever thought of that each haji must wear identification bands with details like his name, nationality, home address, telephone, fax and email along with his emergency contact number etc so that Click here to read Full Article

The MNS govt. is trying hard to persuade the MQM parliamentarians to withdraw their resignations, who gauging the govt’s keenness are in return demanding more or less a free hand for their alleged heretofore activities considered by many as not very civil or serene. The MQM’s stance of their being pushed against the wall is irrational. Do they want that the Corrupt, the Bhata Mafia, the Land grabb Click here to read Full Article
