US-Pak Relations: From Insecurity to Insecurity–II

What Pakistan aims at?
On the basis of reports from global media, one can bluntly reply: Pakistan seeks Western aid for the nation and cash for the leaders belonging to all spheres of Pakistani scene. But the fact remains that USA and Europe that ship resources to Islamabad also have hidden tags attached to their assistances. Sept 11 arrangement has brought Pakistanis to the feet of the Americans. They expect Pakistan to carry out the instructions as a resalable ally in South Asia, but that reliability is questioned by the USA now, while Pakistan on its art does not seem to trust the Western Invaders as before.
If history is any guide, the US has always played the proverbial fair-weather friend to Pakistan. With the collapse of the erstwhile USSR, the threat of communist onward march and socialism to Western imperialism came to an end. Pakistan played a significant role in the defeat of Soviet Union in Afghanistan. But as soon as the US achieved its aim, Pakistan was left in the lurch to deal with the fall out. Americans make a fuss about their resources being used on Pakistan while they utter no word about resources being squandered and stolen from Iraq and Afghanistan apart from colonizing the free nations. Western and Indian media give a picture of pathetic picture about Pakistanis as being incapable of any work and they depend on foreign resources for their sustenance. This is indeed both misleading and mischievous. Pakistan, after Sept 11, assured USA of its unflinching support for what was then known as “war on terrorism”, but meaning state terrorism killing Muslims. The US needs Pakistan’s assistance in combating the terrorist threat that it is supposed to be facing by invading Muslim nations. Still, Pakistan is insulted and coerced to kill more Muslims.
A business like US foreign policy is oriented to keep Washington pleased to offer and get the crucial military and economic aid in exchange for services and raw materials. Pakistan has been serving the USA in all possible ways at the cost of the nation’s prestige and honour. Many in the west and Pakistan believe Pakistan’s brief encounter with the US may well be over in the foreseeable future. On the one hand, Pakistan is reaping the seeds that were sown by the Afghan jihad, which was incidentally sponsored by the US and, on the other, it aids the NATO rogue states kill Muslims on payment basis.
Yes, Pakistani leadership is groomed by the USA leaders who seek complete subordination almost like surrendering of sovereignty. Even while Israeli drones were killing Pakistanis in Pakistanis, the leaders in Islamabad were keen only to amass wealth at home and abroad. Pakistanis are friendly with USA and China- both are figh9itng Muslims- but Hindu fanatic India is also trying to woo both USA and China upsetting the Pakistani apple card. Both China and India maintain ambiguity in its regional and international politics but has always been a concern especially for Pakistan. USA under President Obama has adopted a careful and balanced approach towards its relation with China, but fate of Pakistan as an underdog has not changed.
Historically, the friendship lasts only as long as the US’s immediate interests in the region are served, but now US keeps expanding its interests. There has been a recurring pattern in Pak-US relations, which are based on short-term interests of both the USA and Pakistan. Today the bilateral relations are characterized by a strong element of mutual suspicion because of the US and NATO hidden agendas for the region. The track record of Pakistan’s relationship with the US is, therefore, not very encouraging to arrive at optimistic conclusions. Zardari regime finds it hard to convince the world of its current predicament of supporting GST and so it invites troubles and faces danger of making Pakistan and people insecure.
It is another matter that the real fruits of US assistance have not gone to the people of Pakistan. US can equally be blamed for this negligence because its understanding was only with military governments for specific purposes. There should be a substantial shift in the attitude of the US administration towards Islamic world including Pakistan. Whatever may be said about the US policy towards Pakistan, it is a fact that billions of dollars have flowed to Pakistan from the US but they have gone straight into the hidden pockets of Pakistani leaders and bureaucrats. How can they establish a truly Islamic state which aims at the opposite ideals?
By throwing some bones at a few Pakistanis, Americans are able to control Pakistan, its people, media and the religious contours as well as the entire system. Today, Pakistanis are agisnt their ownnaitons, their peole and Shari’a. Most fo them consider Islam a problem and hurdle in their pursuence of illicit goals. The Pakistan military has long believed the U.S. to be an unreliable ally. Pakistan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia have, by supporting the NATO terrorism in Islamic world, offered the much needed legitimacy support to USA. In order to make Pakistanis kill Muslims and help the occupying NATO terror forces kill them, the Neocons and their regime supporters at White House bully Pakistan by using Hindu India as a bargain chip on nuclear plus cash terms. India’s paid US lobbyists want to make this populous state one of America’s most important economic and strategic terror partners to play “roles” in Islamic world under western occupation.
USA considers Pakistan, like Israel, its backyard and coerced the Pakistani leadership to kill Muslims or face regime change. The 9/11 attacks caught Pakistan by surprise and forced a radical, incoherent and unanticipated change in Pakistan’s policies. Under intense pressure by the US, including an ultimatum from Secretary of State Colin Powell, Pakistani President Musharraf , in order to outwit his political opponents at home as well as Hindu terror India across the borders, chose to ally with Bushdom rogues of America against Pakistan's erstwhile Afghan and Arab partners. Pakistani leaders do not think as the Indo-American do and, consequently the NATO terrorism has made Pakistan vulnerable and destabilized.
That is exactly what the Pentagon wanted as background for future operations. By 2004, Pakistan faced a serious and growing insurgency in its tribal areas. By 2008 that insurgency had spread beyond the tribal areas into more settled areas such as the Swat River Valley . The Pakistani military, known well the future consequences, drove the Pakistani Taliban out of Swat and the surrounding areas, including much of the northern part of the tribal areas. Today Pakistani government is badly shaken, although many leaders have amassed huge wealth, and could even be ruined if the trend continues. NATO’s plan seems to be a permanent war until the last Muslim is killed by Christian official militancy as advised by US Neocon rogues and their Eastern and Western terror allies.
