Though Altaf Hussain has been residing in London for nearly 22 years now and holds the British nationality as well yet, he must be issued with the Pakistani passport and the NIC to facilitate his return to Karachi. An MQM Senator has threatened to ‘close’ Karachi for a year if the Passport is not issued to the MQM leader immediately. I don’t know what does he mean by closing it. Close it to whom Click here to read Full Article

There seems to be no end to the target killing in Karachi and yet another doctor – Manzur Memon has fallen victim to it today along with his driver. The killers who were on a motorbike made good their escape as usual and probably would never be tracked down like hundreds of other such killers before them. It is a well known phenomena that 99.9 per cent of all such target killings are done by the Click here to read Full Article

My differences with the JI apart, I must admire its present Ameer who happens to be also the Senior Minister (Wazir) of the KPK government - Mr. Siraj ul Haq - as a true Awami Leader. He is using an Air Conditioner neither in his office nor in his official residence. He has resolved not to do so till the ordinary man in the street is ridden of the curse of load shedding. Well done, Sir, and I Click here to read Full Article

The parliament has removed the ban on the YouTube. More than anyone else it must have overjoyed the winners of the recently held bidding for the award of 3G and 4G in the telecommunication sector. The bidders had bid far less for the award on the pretext that they would not be able to muster the clientele in the required numbers due to the ban on the YouTube which was in fact the biggest revenue Click here to read Full Article

Yom e Shuhada by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)
Posted By: Riaz On: 2/May/2014 Views:849 Replies:0
April 30th was observed as Yom e Shuhada by the armed forces in an impressive way and befitting tributes were paid to those who laid their life so that the nation may live. Ironically, quite a many of them – more than 5,000 – had been blessed with martyrdom in the last decade or so fighting the extremists and the terrorists. I, as an old soldier, felt proud of the occasion and reassured that the Click here to read Full Article

Every now and then one sees our VIPs and VVIPs haughtily and in great pomp and show performing an opening or inauguration ceremony, laying a foundation stone, unveiling a plaque or switching on gas, power or water supply with their dast e Mubarak in some remote area where the lavish and regal shamianas and canopies, bedecked sofas and chairs, stage, speakers & Click here to read Full Article

Article - 6 Due to certain unfortunate and one after the other civil and military misunderstandings the general political atmosphere in the country sharpened to a degree where some of the political stalwarts quite openly solicited military intervention and many a TV anchor along with the political and defence analysts were brazenly discussing the possibility of yet another Martial Law in Pakistan Click here to read Full Article

129th PMA Passing Out Parade by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

It was really refreshing for an old soldier of the 7th PMA Long Course - commissioned February 1953 - and later PMA Ghaznavi Company Commander (1967-69) to watch the 129th passing out parade of the PMA Kakul this morning. Many an old memory revived so vividly as if the 61 long years in between never existed ! Much has changed at the Rafiullah Drill Square since and pleasantly for the better too. Hamid Mir Shooting by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

There are no two opinions about the attempt on the life of Hamid Mir under the fly over bridge near Karachi airport on Saturday 19th April being one of the most heinous crimes and must by condemned by all to the utmost. However, the haste with which the ISI and its Chief have been blamed by the family and the media in general for it is a little surprising. AND, if it was done by them then I dem Click here to read Full Article
